The blurb/synopsis on the back states that the author brings in humor. I think i am really going to love this book and it will be a quick read

The intro was weird I actually didn't know that I was reading it until I started the actual book; the intro was about 12 pages long and really sort of gave ma an outlook on weather or not i was going to like the book of not. She goes into detail about how she was so unsure of herself and how she is going to show us how she learned to forget the haters and just smile through it all.

This chapter talks about how from birth girls are objectified to like one thing; how they are taught to paint their nails, put bows in their hair, play with barbies. and they are also taught to keep away from the 'boy' toys including dinosaurs, skateboards, or even something as simple as boy Legos. She tells us how crazy it is that there is something that looks the exact same like Legos but just by the color or the sticker on the box it comes in that only girls or only boys are supposed to play with them.

This chapter is about Learning to accept yourself or in other words learning to accept the fact that you don't and wont ever look like the super models in magazines and that you are you, you have to accept that. No one can go change their face without extensive cost or danger to their bodies. She also goes into societies outlook on makeup and that there is not an "acceptable" Amount of makeup that you should have on because you can't have TOO much makeup on or TOO little there is some "magic" (as she says) middle some where that she hasn't found yet. She admits that makeup in some aspects can be empowering like a bright red lip or a smokey eye. But she doesn't agree with the 'guidelines' that have grown with the industry you know the lines i'm talking about the imaginary ones that no one can see and rarely anyone ever crosses

This chapter was really interesting, she goes into how ironic women friendships are. For her she has always had a hard time making and keeping friends. She talks about all the added pressures that come with being a best friend¨ and how hard it is to keep up a healthy relationship. I wasn't a huge fan of this chapter but i´m sure it was still an important part of the book.

This chapter is really about girls throwing each other under the bus. Most girls are guilty of this, i know i am for sure. you look for that sense of approval from the guys so you make tell them your not like those sluts and your cooler more chill. We all sell each other short. Something she said that I think has a big impact was ¨I thought someone had to be the slut, i never realized that in reality no one has to be¨. She points out that we (woman) in our own gilt and fear of acceptance dig ourselves a bigger hole.

This chapter focused on my characters eating disorder. The disorder she has is bulimia, this is when you throw up your food after consuming it. She talks about how she thought she was in control because she wasn’t too skinny and she didn’t look sick. But she was missing the underlined point she was losing the vitamins in her body, it was resulting in her losing some hair and getting wrinkles on her face. She eventually gets into contact with other people with the same problem. And she learns how to stop but she says she is always afraid she will fall back into the dark. I believe the reason she fell into this is because she saw the bodies she wanted to be she believed that if she looked like them she would be accepted, but that’s not how anyone should have to feel about their bodies.

This chapter is about a bunch of misleading advice she has gotten ever since she was little. Women are thought ever since they are young that they are supposed to not touch, be quiet, cook for men, and be nice. We basically have certain rules we are programmed to follow. We are not supposed to be cookie cutter house wives who have 8 children and cook every day. We are strong and empowered and we are not going to stand for it anymore.

This chapter has the underlining point of sexual assault. She points out why girls go in packs, and it’s so they won’t get hurt, it’s so they feel safe. We walk home in groups because we don’t ant to be fought on a black street alone. It’s the fact that men blame us for being raped and the statistic that one in four women experience sexual assault atleast once in their life

This is the last chapter of my book. I feel that she pulled together the entire book in this whole chapter. her main point is to show that feminism isn’t bad it’s empowering , feminism is basically just giving woman the right to make a choice. She wants us all to make a choice that we are proud of and she asks us to use our voice so that when we look down on the next generations of girls who don’t have to fight for what we fought for we will be proud that we didn’t just stay quiet.
