Natural Resource Extraction

Canada prioritizes using, extracting, and developing its abundant natural resources found in provinces like Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec through logging, mining, and oil drilling. These resources include fossil fuels, forestry, and fisheries, which are huge contributors to economic growth and help generate revenue for federal, provincial, and municipal governments. Economic decision-making in natural resource devolution benefits Canada, the government, and stakeholders, which may include owners, investors, employees, consumers, and suppliers. The extraction of natural resources creates employment opportunities and promotes economic growth in Canada, whether through (GDP) (growth domestic product) use or export to other countries.

Biodiversity is a big problem in Canada; it is one of the main factors that threatens ecosystem loss, biodiversity is the variety of different species of plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms living in a certain ecosystem. Biodiversity loss can be a big problem as it affects various aspects of ecosystems, including the species populations, ecosystem functioning, and the services they provide to humans and other organisms. It also causes reduced ecosystem stability.

The Kyoto Protocol was an international treaty that was meant to help fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The treaty was created in December 1997 and put into force on February 16, 2005. This treaty was to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 5%. The protocol introduced flexible mechanisms to help countries meet their emissions reduction goals. The three different mechanisms are emissions trading, clean development mechanisms, and joint implementation. They are to help the over all greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate change is nothing new; it is an ongoing problem throughout the world, as well as in Canada. Climate change is the change in temperature and perception of Earth's climate patterns over an extended period. Climate change has a few reasons why it is caused. One of the main reasons that causes climate change is human activity, such as the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This is caused by the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. This is why Canada has such a problem with climate change because a lot of provinces in Canada are rich in natural resources, which we then extract and cause both air and water pollution.

Habitat Loss

Habitat loss is the process by which the natural habitat in which an organism lives is destroyed or fragmented. Habitat loss is something that affects everything that is living. It is something that occurs over some time. Huge factors that lead to habitat loss in ecosystems are urbanization, agriculture, deforestation, resource extraction, and many more. Two main factors contribute to habitat loss for animals and other living things. One example is natural disasters, and the other is encroachment or human-induced habitat loss, which can lead to fragmentation. Natural disasters can cause hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and wildfires. Encroachment is the process by which human activities are the sole cause of habitat loss in the natural habitats of certain animals or organisms. For example, expanding human infrastructure and agriculture can be a big problem as we build things over animals' and organisms' natural habitats, which can hugely affect them.
