Honesty, fairness, loyalty — and not thinking you’re better than anyone else. I respect people who do things for the right reasons, not to show off or fit in. I like people who work hard, take pride in what they make, but still stay grounded.

Stuff that feels real. Films that show working-class life without sugar-coating it. Music with grit — punk, post-punk, grime, or anything that’s got something to say. Art that’s bold, messy, modern — not posh gallery stuff. I like work that feels like someone shouting their truth.

What do you not like or agree with?
I can’t stand pretentiousness or people who look down on others. I’m not into the establishment or anything overly traditional. I don’t like things that are too polished or made just to impress. I’d rather see something raw and flawed but honest.

Do you feel connected to your culture, or different from it?
A bit of both. I feel proud of being working class and where I’m from — but I also think that part of British culture gets ignored or looked down on, especially in the arts. So I feel like I belong, but I’m also pushing against how people see my background.

Mostly noisy. I like stuff with energy, edge, emotion. But I also like things that are simple and strong — not overcomplicated. Just say what you mean and mean it.

Is there a creative work (music, fashion, art, film, etc.) that feels like you?
Yeah — This Is England definitely. It’s rough, emotional, working-class, but full of heart. Also, Doc Martens as a brand — they’re made for people like me: strong, no-nonsense, a bit defiant. Musically, maybe something like IDLES or Sleaford Mods — angry but thoughtful.

What values are important to you?

Like many people, I would consider family and friendship to be the most important values to me.  Also, creativity and taking care of both your physical and mental health

What kind of creative work makes you feel something?

Definitely music, but also cinema and photography.  We feel different on different days but there’s always something to fit each mood.  For example, uplifting and catchy music is always fitting for the start of the weekend!

What do you not like or agree with?

I don’t agree with education that is boring or too serious.  University classes should be fun and creative, students should enjoy interacting with each other and exploring their creativity.

Definitely connected to it.  I think one thing that is great about the culture in the UK is comedy and our sense or humour.  Making jokes and having fun is something we’re good at in both our personal and professional lives and British comedy TV shows like Mr Bean, Monty Python or The Office are popular all over the world/

For my example Identity project, I chose music as my project focus.  Specifically, Carlos Santan’s ‘Abraxas’ album from 1970.  So, definitely music

There is a film called "The Worst Person in the World", which is a movie about the life choices of modern urban women. This film is divided into 12 chapters, plus a prologue and an epilogue, and records her growth and confusion in a fragmented structure.

Facing multiple anxieties such as career, love and identity, hesitating among different choices, and gradually facing the truth of life. This is a film that seems to be about love, but actually focuses more on "how an individual gets along with the world".

Honest-- Because I think honesty is very important, the connection and friendship between people should be built on honesty. However, we need to stay away from those who often deceive you.

I’m from Zhengzhou, Henan, a city in central China . But now I live in Seoul, which is very different. The contrast between the two places has shaped how I see culture, space, and identity.
