They called it the "Rwanda Genocide".Killings began in April 1994, and continued for around a hundred days. In the end, around 500,000 Tutis were killed.

This is a very important stage in the Rwanda Genocide because the dehumanization of the Tutsi made it easier for the Hutu to kill them. This stage was mostly done through media, or more specifically, the radio. The Hutu were dehumanized to trees and cockroaches. The Hutu would broadcast codes like "cut down the tall trees" to signal the killing of the Tutsi.
