<title>Task 1-&quot;Self Relience&quot; by Ralph Waldo Emerson is mainly about being an individual. He believed that in order for a person to be a person, they must follow their own conscience and make their own path. He tries to show that society makes the claim that people should follow other peoples footsteps and take the path that someone else did, however, following someone elses path doesn’t allow you to grow, it just allows you to experience what has already been experienced. He wants to persuade the reader to do their own thing in life and be your own person. A metaphor that I think would best support this is To be a rose in a field of sunflowers. This metaphor shows being different is okay because you are beautiful no matter what. Today, we are taught do do everything right and how we are taught, but we really should be learning how to be you’re own person and that being different is okay.</title>

<title>Task 2-Throughout the text Walden, we learn about taking your own path. The quote, “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer” (Thoreau). Shows my claim. This quote shows the reader how people become their own person, and sometimes, that means they separate from their family and friends to find themselves. I relate to this quote because, unlike my friends, I play a sport which takes up a lot of my time. During the on-season for my sport, I don’t go out to much because outside of basketball, I have school work and I like to sleep. Spacing out from people is not a bad thing as long as it&#39;s for a good purpose. Some people believe that spacing out from people helps them focus and gives them the determination to be successful. The phrase “heard a different drummer”, also relates to this. People have different views on things and different desires which is what makes each different person unique. </title>

<title>Task 3-Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken, is all around a negative poem. It uses negative words and phrases to set a tine for the reader. His poem demonstrates to the reader that even if you have regrets in your life, you must live with them. To me, this poem is showing that even if you did something bad it your life, the world keeps spinning and life goes on. In my opinion, the “road less taken” in society today is a risk. No matter is it is a risk for fun, for a job, for yourself, no one likes to take risks in fear of failure. A risk that I took was devoting my freetime to basketball. I love the sport and I am willing to keep practicing during on and off season but with that, I lose most of my free time. Some people would not want to do this because they would be afraid of losing their social life, but what I learned, is that everything will be fine and following your dreams is more important than seeing people who you might not even be friends with by the time we are in college.</title>

<title>Task 4-“Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb nail” (Thoreau)Thoreau shows throughout the text that there are only a few things humans need to survive. Through this quote, we learn that Thoreau believes that it is important to keep your priorities straight and everything else just keep in your head. I believe that to live a happy, fulfilled life, you must be surrounded by the things that make you happy to be alive. For example, family, friends, or even a hobby you enjoy are all things that can make people&#39;s lives happy and worth living. We can work to simplifying our lives by being grateful for all we have and not desiring very much. If you can get whatever you want, whenever you want, you might not realise how fortunate you are. We should all take some time to look around us and see how lucky we are for all we have.</title>

<title>Task 5- “Yet it is certain that the power to produce this delight, does not reside in nature, but in man, or in a harmony of both”(Emerson) To me, this quote is telling the reader that you should not only make peace with what&#39;s around you, but you should also make peace with yourself. Being at peace with yourself makes you feel a lot better about yourself and overall, makes your life better. Yes, it is important to be at peace with your surroundings such as your friends, family, peers, etc. However, making other people happy will not always make you happy. This quote is showing how you should always keep yourself and your matters in your life.	</title>

<title>Task 6-If I were to leave tomorrow, to never return home, There would be some things I need to do. First, I would bring very minimal things but things that are necessities for the journey. I would bring a water purifier, a portable charger, canned food, some clothes for all cases of weather, and some sort of weapon in case I was in any danger. Those things are necessities because they are my main objects I would need to survive on my own. I would want to keep the objects simple so I don’t have to worry about too much stuff and learn to take advantage of the things I do have. After I packed, I would say goodbye to my family and close friends in person. Then I would text or call some friends that I wouldn’t get a chance to see before I go. I would spend some time with the people I care about one last time so I can be with the people who make me happiest one last time. </title>

<title>Task 7-King of the Road by Roger Miller represents ideas of Transcendentalism. This song shows the idea of being an independent person. The song shows this through the lyrics, “I&#39;m a man of means by no means/King of the road.”(Miller). This part of the song shows that he is strong and dominant among others, representing himself as the king and everything else as the road. Another idea this song represents is living a simple life. The lyrics that show this are, “No phone, no pool, no pets/I ain&#39;t got no cigarettes” (Miller) and the lyrics, “Old, worn out suit and shoes/I don&#39;t pay no union dues/I smoke old stogies I have found/Short, but not too big around”(Miller). These quotes represent the idea of a simple life because it shows that he doesn’t have much but he doesn’t care. He still knows he is strong without most things other people have. </title>

<title>Task 8-This movie represents Transcendental ideas in many different ways. One way this movie represents transcendentalism is being independent. Wall-E is left by himself on Earth, cleaning up trash. Even though he is a robot, he has human instincts which make him have to learn how to function on his own. He also lives very simply, spending his nights and times in bad weather, in an old construction machine that he calls home. Finally, it shows spirituality in nature. The backstory of the movie is how Earth no longer had any plants and it was covered in trash. However, Wall-E found the last living plant and cherished it. He took care of it and had a bond with the plant throughout the movie. The plant symbolized hope and chance through the movie which is what transcendentalists believe in plants now. They believe in feeling connected in the plants and the chance of feeling at peace.</title>
