Como tal é essencial formar cidadãos mais conscientes e responsáveis pelo seu planeta, especificamente pelo oceano.
Sinto-me muito feliz por estar nesta aventura da Educação para a Sustentabilidade do Oceano e navegar com outros profissionais da educação de diferentes níveis de ensino e outras culturas. Sei que juntos, poderemos demorar mais, mas chegaremos mais longe.

I am a Kindergarten Educator and I love what I do.
Educating children is forming personalities and I believe it is a mission.
As such it is essential to form more aware and responsible citizens for your planet, specifically the ocean.
I feel very happy to be on this Education for the Sustainability of the Ocean adventure and to sail with other education professionals from different levels of education and other cultures. I know that together we may take longer, but we will go further.

Olá, sou a Fernanda, professora de Geografia na Escola Básica e Secundária de Pinheiro. Vivo junto ao mar e não me vejo a morar noutro local. O mar é o meu confidente, o meu calmante e a minha inspiração.
Acredito que este projeto será uma mais valia para mim e para os meus alunos, pois irá permitir um conhecimento mais aprofundado sobre os problemas dos oceanos e, como tal, ações que podemos desenvolver para minimizar esses problemas. Permite, além disto, a união de mentalidades diferentes (trabalho colaborativo) na resolução de questões pertinentes relativas à sustentabilidade dos oceanos.

Hi, I'm Fernanda, a Geography teacher at Pinheiro Basic and Secondary School. I live by the sea and I don't see myself living anywhere else. The sea is my confidant, my tranquilizer and my inspiration.

I believe that this project will be an asset to me and my students, as it will allow a deeper knowledge about the problems of the oceans and, as such, actions that we can develop to minimize these problems. Furthermore, it allows for the union of different mentalities (collaborative work) in solving pertinent issues relating to the sustainability of the oceans.

desenvolvo, acredito que é na partilha de informação que crescemos e nos
transformamos.
A Escola Básica de Francelos situa – se no concelho de Vila Nova de Gaia, freguesia de Gulpilhares, muito próximo da costa e é onde eu desenvolvo a minha atividade profissional.
Bem perto do mar, sinto-me bem, pois este é o meu lugar de excelência para sonhar,
desabafar, o Mar é meu ouvinte e conselheiro, o lugar onde me sinto livre e tranquila.
Lugar para preservar e cuidar, pois sem MAR não quero ficar.
A apresentação do projeto, fez-me refletir e agitar o grupo e famílias provocando a

Chamo-me Anabela Silva, sou professora do 1º ciclo, na EB1 de Francelos, do Agrupamento de Escolas de Valadares.

Pela proximidade da praia, senti a necessidade de trabalhar a compreensão das nossas atitudes em relação ao mar e da influência que este exerce sobre nós. É necessário perceber, sensibilizar e atuar de modo a que se consigam operar mudanças efetivas nas nossas atitudes para com os oceanos.

O Mar

Este é o mar

onde os barcos viajam,

os peixes moram,

My name is Anabela Silva, I am a 1st cycle teacher, at EB1 de Francelos, at the Valadares Schools Group.

Due to the proximity of the beach, I felt the need to work on understanding our attitudes towards the sea and its influence on us. It is necessary to perceive, sensitize and act so that effective changes can be made in our attitudes towards the oceans.

The sea

where boats travel,

the dolphins jump,

Sou Educadora-de-Infância no JI/EB1 da Capela em Gulpilhares/Valadares.
Vivi sempre à beira-mar em Valadares, em Vila Nova de Gaia.
Adoro o mar e sempre que dou um passeio pela praia, sinto a energia e maravilho-me com tanta beleza. Infelizmente cada vez encontro mais lixo que recolho. A foto de apresentação foi lixo que apanhei na praia e não volta mais para o mar.
Neste projeto, o meu grupo está a ficar sensibilizado para a preservação da fauna e da flora marinhas. Estão a tomar consciência que as pequenas atitudes individuais de proteger a Natureza vão melhorar o ambiente, a qualidade de vida de todos e respeitando o Mundo.

I am a kindergarten teacher at JI/EB1 of the Capela in Gulpilhares/Valadares.
I have always lived by the sea in Valadares, in Vila Nova de Gaia.
I love the sea and whenever I take a walk along the beach, I feel the energy and marvel at its beauty. Unfortunately, I find more and more garbage than I collect.The presentation photo was rubbish I picked up on the beach and doesn't go back to the sea anymore.
In this project, my group is becoming aware of the preservation of marine fauna and flora. They are becoming aware that the small individual actions to protect Nature will improve the environment, the quality of life for all and respecting the world.

Hello dear project members of "ECO Educating for Ocean Conservation". Greetings from Türkiye. I am Simru Pamuk from Betül Can Anatolian High School. I work as an English teacher at a project implementing upper secondary school in the centre of the capital of Turkey. Our pupils are chosen by a national entrance examination, so they are highly gifted and creative. The school staff are experienced professionals in their fields and enthusiastic collaborators on international projects.

We are members of an ancient capital of Anatolia, the cradle of civilizations. "Ancyra" was originally used by Phrygians. Phrygian King Miydas called its name, meaning "anchor", first in history. Ancient word for it was "Ancyra". It is the city of King Mydas. It is the homeland of Great Alexandre who untied the Gordion knot. It is the capital of Galatia state of the Roman Empire. Augustus Tomb, Roman Bath, Roman Theatre, Julien Column are the traces of the city's ancient roots in human history.

My school stays one of the examples of tradition, yet never ending innovating vitality with its beautiful minds, always fulfilled with lifelong lasting guidance and illuminating inspiration by the experienced school staff, who are definitely professionals in their fields. Our motto is not teaching those minds, but reflecting their inner wisdom and kindness to themselves in their own learning journey.

We are delighted to be a part of this amazing project for preserving the oceans of our planet. We will raise awareness and educate our school members and our city on the importance of saving oceans with the help of this project. Me and my students are vey excited to begin working to make our best for our planet.

I am Simru Pamuk. I have been teaching English as a foreign language at Betül Can Anatolian High School in Ankara, Türkiye. The students in my school are aged between 14-18. They are highly gifted and creative as there is a national entrance examination for being accepted as a student in this school. Betül Can Anatolian High School is labelled a National Project School and an eTwinning School, which has been one of the most remarkable concepts in the strategic future plans of Ministry of Education. The main aim behind this plan is to prepare gifted students to the essential requirements of the 21st century world by using the Project Based Learning realm of modern methodology.

This project appeals to my students because of the goegraphical features of my country. They are highly sensitive and caring for our oceans. Our country is surrounded by three coasts and four seas binding Europe and Asia with the Bosphorus in İstanbul. We are a Mediterrenean country with Mediterrenean Sea coast and Aegean Sea coast. Our school gives importance to environmental education to our students as responsible citizens of the future. So we are in this project to save our oceans, seas, which involves us as a country.

Modern approaches in an eclectic manner adopted by the staff, whose main target in the lessons is to equip the students with the skills of problem solving in real life situations and with the appropriate communication skills to survive in their social lives. The lessons are just enlightening the students' path, enabling them to continue their education journey as free, confident and conscious individuals as possible, and making the most of their potential from birth. The teachers' place in the classroom is not more than standing as a guide in their own life journey of which the real actors are themselves.

I'm Raquel Felizes, a Math, Science and Citizenship teacher from the Basic School of Valadares. In this picture above we can see the Beach of Valadares, which is the nearest beach to our school, situated in the North Coast of Portugal, in the city of Vila Nova de Gaia, one of the many cities of the Oporto district.
This year I'll be participating in the ECO project with my Science students in the 5th grade: 5.ºB, 5.ºC and 5.ºE.
We're very happy to participate in this project with colleagues at other schools. We hope to participate in all the ECO initiatives to protect our ocean and we're also proud of being in a "Blue School" - which is a warranty seal for schools known for their commitment with Ocean Literacy.

Olá! Sou professora de Educação Moral e Religiosa na escola Básica e Secundária Tomás de Borba, na cidade de Angra do Heroísmo, na Ilha Terceira que pertence ao grupo de 9 ilhas dos Açores, arquipélago de ilhas de Portugal.
Os meus alunos vão desde o 1º ano do primeiro ciclo (6 anos) ao 9º ano (14 anos).
A minha ilha está rodeada de mar, o oceano Atlântico, por isso este tema é muito importante para mim e para os meus alunos. Adoro tomar banhos de mar de verão e de inverno, passeios à beira mar e de barco.
Assim, acho importante transmitir aos alunos os valores de proteção e defesa do oceano que nos rodeia.
Para além disso, também sou mãe de 3 crianças e tento transmitir-lhes estes valores. Espero conseguir acompanhar o projeto, mas como tenho filhos pequenos nem sempre é fácil.

I work as a science teacher. I have a master's degree in physics and a doctorate in science. I follow the scientific developments in my field and attend congresses as much as possible. I try to take part in new projects.
I am happy to discover new museums and places with my students. I try to eat healthy, but I love chocolate like everyone else :)

Hi, I'm Mariella Nica and I teach Italian literature and History in a High school in Sorrento, in South of Italy. My student are from 14 to 18 and they study ICT subjects. We live on the Mediterranean coast and we see and "feel" the pollution in our small and closed see.
Sorrento is a picturesque coastal town that is known as the western gateway to the Amalfi Coast. It is a town of lemons, high-quality hotels, plunging cliffs, and small coves. Hundreds of tourists are coming every year to Sorrento to stroll through the historic center’s narrow streets. This beautiful town is also full of small unique shops and artisan workshops. Sorrento is close to Amalfi Pompeii, Positano and islands of Capri and Ischia, as well as you can discove historic Naples.
I'm so happy to partiticipate to this project because I think that's important to educate students and teacher to respect their environment.

Sou professora do 1.º Ciclo no Colégio de Nossa Senhora da Bonança, em Vila Nova de Gaia, um concelho do litoral norte de Portugal, e este ano letivo leciono uma turma de 25 alunos do 3.º ano de escolaridade.

Desde sempre, senti uma proximidade afetiva com o mar, na medida em que vivi e vivo perto dele. Além disso, ao longo do meu percurso académico e profissional, tenho trabalhado em vários projetos que visam contribuir para que os alunos desenvolvam também este lado afetivo para com o Oceano e aumentem o seu conhecimento sobre ele. Pois, quanto mais o conhecemos, mais identificamos a sua importância para a nossa vida.

Pela necessidade de formar cidadãos mais conscientes das suas ações e do impacto das mesmas, numa perspetiva de valorizarem o planeta em que vivem, integro este projeto pela primeira vez, o qual visa contribuir para o desenvolvimento da Literacia do Oceano de todos os envolvidos.

I am a science teacher at the Istituto Polispecialistico San Paolo, an High school in Sorrento. I am a biologist with the specialization in Nutrition Science. I love the sea and nature and I belong at the Environmental Association Marevivo. In the last years I worked as design expert and teacher in several projects about environmental education, marine biology, nutrition science and educational garden.

I am very honored and happy to take part to ECO project, because it is a very interisting project and this is my first e-twinning experience. It is very thrilled to work together with teachers of other countries and to see my students happy to meet foreign students and become friends. Above all it is very beautiful that we are all united by the SEA or OCEAN !!!
