Here is your Momma Duck, Dr. Suz. I am 52 years old I was first an elementary teacher (2nd grade) and then when my first husband was killed during Desert Shield, I moved back to Pensacola and taught middle school . I moved all across the US, teaching in schools in California, Virginia, Florida, Louisiana, Toronto, Canada, and Texas. I have seen it all in regards to our education system. I earned my B.A. at San Diego State, my M.A. in Reading at UWF, and my PhD in Language Arts and Reading Education at FSU. I love football, reading, my dogs, and most of all, my adopted daughter Elena. I am here to help you in any way. I will expect a lot from you, but I will give as much in return. Trust me when I say I will truly love you.

Hello! I am a senior here at UWF and looking forward to graduation in December! I am majoring in Elementary Education/ESE.
I live in Cantonment, just north of Pensacola. (CST) I am originally from Pensacola but spent 20 years after in Birmingham, Alabama. I returned in 2009 to raise my kiddos with the surf and sand.
Something interesting, or some consider crazy, is I have 8 kids. Yes, they are all mine. No, none of them are twins. No, none of them are adopted (although I am). They range in age 26 to 6 and they keep me going! I am 53 and returning to finish my degree.
I am excited to have my own classroom. I have been long term subbing for a few years and I absolutely adore it. I have worked in a variety of schools, but my heart is with the kids that need that extra help and certainly extra love. I consider my classroom my mission field and I just want to show them all the love I can while helping them reach goals they never thought they could.
This is a picture of me and my youngest on a day that I got to sub in his classroom. I am so excited to be returning to his school for the rest of this year as a long term sub in his class part of the day and working with 4th and 5th graders the rest of the day.

My name is Tailer Preston and I am a Special Education/Elementary major at UWF. I live in Milton, FL. (Central time zone). I am a full-time student and work three jobs.
Something interesting about me is one of my jobs; I am a girl's high school basketball coach and got the job straight out of high school. I love the position God has placed me in with these girls and getting to influence them as players, but more importantly, as people.
I work full-time as an ESE Paraprofessional at an elementary school in our county. I am in a CBSA Pre-K classroom and love it! It is very challenging at times but very rewarding when we look at the growth our students have made.
I am also a server at a local restaurant to help my income. Working as a paraprofessional and coach does not pay the bills so I have to have another source of income.
What excites me the most about becoming a teacher is having my own room. My own space to make decisions and interact with my students. I am a natural leader, and take pride in it, so I look forward to being able to really let that out of me.
Pictured below is my boyfriend and I on this past Christmas. We have been together 5 years and have a precious fur baby, Izzy! She is a terrier mix that we saved from the pound in Mobile.

My name is Emily McCallum and I am a senior in the Elementary and Exceptional Student Education major.
I live in Navarre, Florida which is in the Central Time Zone.
Something interesting about me is that I love painting. One of my favorite painters to watch is Bob Ross, so I have recreated a few of his paintings. Painting is very relaxing for me and allows me to channel my creativity. I also enjoy sketching and drawing.
Something that excites me about my future career in teaching is that I will get to help students have their "light bulb" moment in the classroom. When I have worked with students in the classroom and they are struggling with the content, it is so rewarding to help them understand that content. When it finally clicks, it is so exciting for both the student and the teacher.
This picture is of me in Walt Disney World. That is my favorite place to be and I hope to have a Disney classroom when I start teaching.

They are spoiled rotten, and they are treated more like children than they are animals. I also work at an after school program. Working with children everyday makes me realize how much I want to teach! The quote "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life" is so true with my job. I am excited about my future as an educator. I want to make a difference wherever I can - even if it is something small. I want to be someone that helps learning "make sense" to a student - just like a few of my teachers did for me.

After 30 years in the medical field, I decided to become a teacher. My youngest struggled with a reading diability from age 4 and the resources in the public school system were not very helpful. So I decided to become an advocate for kids with special needs. If you see the"Crazy Chicken Lady" van on campus, wave because that's me. I have 6 happy hens and one VERY happy rooster.

Aside from that I also enjoy painting as a way for me to relieve stress, I am not the best at it, but it is definitely fun. One thing I look forward to when it comes to being a teacher is to be able to be a constant in my students lives, I cannot wait to get to see them accomplish new goals and learn new things. I live in Santa Rosa County, Navarre, and we are within the central time zone. I am a huge lover of language. With just listening, I can identify if the speaker is speaking Korean, Chinese, or Japanese. I did study the Japanese language for a little but hopefully, I can study it a little more so that I can have a conversation if need be. I want to stick with K-2 for my first couple of years of teaching. I feel like this will help me set up a foundation and help me professionally grow at a smooth pace until I am ready to take on the older grades.

Hi! I am Jennifer and I am pursing my degree in Elementary Education. I hope to be graduating next May. I live on the Alabama/Florida line. I live near Atmore, AL. (Central Time Zone). It is only 5 minutes away from my house whereas Pensacola is an hour away.
Something interesting about me is that I love to read. (I mean obsession!) I own about 300 books. I use an app to keep up with what I own and what I've read from the library. (Thriftbooks.com is the best place to buy good used books, FYI). I can talk about books for hours! I read 64 books in 2019 and I my goal is to read 65-70 in 2020. I love the smell of books (old and new). I also love to travel. I have many places on my list to visit one day. When I was 19 (back in 2006) I went to Paris for 9 days with a friend and a cousin (they were 18 and 17). It was a blast! And scary to be in another country without our parents. It was such a wonderful experience and I am so glad I was able to do that.
I just started substitute teaching for Escambia County to help me get the feel for teaching while I pursue my degree. My ultimate goal is to one day become a Librarian. I will be pursing my Master's for this while I teach. I would like to teach History or Literature while I pursue becoming a Librarian.

Songs and theater would be amazing to help the students engage! I would love to teach 1st or 2nd where I would teach all subjects but would not mind 3rd-5th if I was able to co-teach and teach all subjects together. My name is Ashley and I live in Pensacola with my boyfriend of seven years and our two cats, Batz and Sabrina. I'm not a morning person, so getting up early is not something I want to do but something I have to do to fit everything into my busy schedule. I do a lot of volunteer work with the boy scouts. I have staffed the local summer camp for nine years and have been running the camp for three years. There is a small paycheck, but it's mostly a volunteer position. That's something I do because I want to give back to the program that really helped me grow into the person I am today. I attribute my time in scouting to what helped me get through my anxiety and learn to make friends.

I was the first daughter born to my father's family in 8 (eight!) generations. My family was very excited to meet me and I was spoiled with baby dolls and pink bows... too bad I would have rather played football with my brother and cousins. :) I am excited about my future career as a teacher to have the opportunity to make a difference in children's educations and their daily lives. I feel strongly that I have the patience and empathy that some families need to help their students be the best versions of themselves and I am so excited to have the opportunity to help these children see their full potential. Nice to "meet" all of you! I am looking forward to a great semester.

I live here in Pensacola, Florida and I am from Rapid City, South Dakota. I am still adjusting to how hot it is down here in January and am not a big fan of the heat. I do enjoy not shoveling snow or scrapping frost off my car window in the morning.

Something interesting I think about me is that I work at Spectrum House providing ABA therapy to children with various developmental disabilities. While we provided services to anyone under the age of 24, I primarily work with the children under the age of 7. The younger children are my absolute favorite to work with and bring my joy getting to interact with and watch them grow socially, behavioral, and speaking for the first time.

What excites me about the future as a teacher is the impact of children's lives I will have. Someone once asked me "What is the worst part of teaching?" and I replied "Planting a seed and not watching it grow.". Teachers can change the lives of students both academically and functionally living and I love every minute of being able to contribute to the improvement of these children's lives with hopes of them growing to be brilliant.

My name is Alicia Presswood, I am an Elementary Education major and I live in Pensacola, FL. Something interesting about me is that I have 6 siblings, only one of them is a full sibling where we have the same mom and dad, and the rest are either half siblings or step siblings, but we all love each other the same. What excites me about my future career in teaching is being able to create meaningful relationships with each of my students and helping them to feel as loved as possible while also being able to play a small role in shaping their minds.

This is me and my best friend's golden doodle Halle, who is now much much bigger than this.

Hello,

My name is Shiloh Cantey and I am an elementary education major with a child welfare minor. I live in Fort Walton Beach, FL (CST). I am a waitress at a local restaurant called Buffalo's Reef. When I am not doing schoolwork or working, I can be found crafting and planning things for my wedding that is in October. I am doing everything myself, so I am always busy with something.

Something that excites me about my future career is helping students to grow academically and personally. I plan to do this through not only teaching the curriculum, but also how to show kindness and respect to each other among other things. I am also looking forward to all of the "ah ha!" moments that students get while learning.

I cannot wait to have a wonderful semester with everyone,

Shiloh C.

Hello my name is Haley Leonard. I am majoring in Elementary Education. I live in Pensacola, Florida right now, but I am originally from Huntsville, Alabama. Something interesting about me is that I was a competitive figure skater for 14 years. I also traveled to almost every state in the US during my time as a figure skater, due to the competitions that I attended. What excites me most about teaching is witnessing the "ah-ha" moments that my students are going to have.
