Everyday towards the end of the day we would gather around a small piano in the back corner of the class and sing classics like “Brown Eyed Girl”, “American Pie”, and “Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road”. It was great fun and a wonderful send off as we headed home. A year I became more independent as I had to walk a longer distance to school. I remember being anxious about meeting new friends and teachers after I was finally getting comfortable with friends and teachers at my old school. It was fine and it became a wonderful year. I loved my teachers and new friends. I even joined the theater production club and created stage sets and props! Now, of course, it's different! Regardless, though, 6th grade was a lot of fun! I remember starting our school newspaper that year, going to see my 1st movie in a movie theater -Footloose (the one with Kevin Bacon...not the remake) and going to the summer Olympics in LA!
