         <title>Training on water voles</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Date:</strong> 22nd September 2023 <br><strong>Location:</strong> Cosmeston Lakes &amp; Country Park <br><strong>Time:</strong> 9.30am-3.30pm tbc&nbsp;<br><br>In partnership with The Wildlife Trust we will be delivering training on water voles for volunteers interested in helping to survey for water voles, once they have been released on the River Thaw next spring.&nbsp;<br><br>The session will include a short classroom session and then out on the site looking at survey techniques and field signs.&nbsp;<br><br>This session is free and suitable for anyone with an interest in water voles&nbsp;<br><br>For more information or to express an interest in the training please contact Ceri or Mel at thaw@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.</div><div><a href="https://wildfish.org/project/smart-rivers/"><br></a><br></div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Dates:</strong> 27th Sept and 20th Oct 2023<br><strong>Location:</strong> <br>27th Sept at Cowbridge Old Hall Gardens <br>20th Oct at Porthkerry Country Park Lodge<br><strong>Time:</strong> 9.30am - 4pm<br><br>Smart Rivers is a scientifically robust, nationwide citizen science scheme that is helping to fill the monitoring gap.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Restore the Thaw Landscape is an exciting new project which will deliver biodiversity improvements in the catchment area of the River Thaw in the Vale of Glamorgan. The project is being funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Project Zero, the Waterloo Foundation and Nature Networks, a fund delivered by the National Lottery Heritage Fund on behalf of Welsh Government and in partnership with Natural Resources Wales.<br><br>Restore the Thaw Landscape aims to benefit local wildlife, landowners and the community, and will provide various opportunities for organisations, community groups, and volunteers to help with the conservation work.</div>]]></description>
