In partnership with The Wildlife Trust we will be delivering training on water voles for volunteers interested in helping to survey for water voles, once they have been released on the River Thaw next spring. 

The session will include a short classroom session and then out on the site looking at survey techniques and field signs. 

This session is free and suitable for anyone with an interest in water voles

Smart Rivers is a scientifically robust, nationwide citizen science scheme that is helping to fill the monitoring gap. Our high resolution invertebrate monitoring produces invaluable evidence to protect wild fish.

The Restore the Thaw Landscape Project team are looking for volunteers who are willing to attend a FREE 2-day Smart Rivers training programme and are committed to undertake river sampling along the River Thaw catchment area twice a year.

The project is being funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Project Zero, the Waterloo Foundation and Nature Networks, a fund delivered by the National Lottery Heritage Fund on behalf of Welsh Government and in partnership with Natural Resources Wales.
