The Lantern Festival or the Spring Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. There are many different beliefs about the origin of the Lantern Festival. However, its roots trace back more than 2000 years ago and is popularly linked to the reign of Emperor Ming of Han at the time when Buddhism was growing in China. In China they eat rice dumpling in the festival. During the Lantern Festival, children go out at night to temples carrying paper lanterns and solve riddles on the lanterns. Now the Lantern Festival is becoming popular in Western countries. In London, the United Kingdom has the Magical Lantern Festival.

春龙节, also known as "二月二, 龙抬头", is a festival celebrated on the second day of the second month in the Chinese Calendar.

The Chinese believe that the dragon is in charge of all creatures and are the ancestors of human beings. They are also in charge of rain, and both of these are crucial parts of farming in ancient China. This is why they worship the dragon on this day for good harvest in the coming months.

During this festival, people would eat spring pancakes, dumplings, fried cakes, a rice cake red bean pastry and more. In some places, huge pots of noodles are shared across hundreds of villagers. Children often carry around ground herbs in a bag for good luck. Another one of the traditions is to cut off a lock of hair. They believe that it brings good luck. On this day, people also roast beans with sugar, melon seeds or popcorn. There are also festivals held with dragon dancing. People would dress up as character in ancient Chinese stories in these festivals.

The Duanwu Festival, also often known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional holiday originating in China, occurring near the summer solstice. The festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar, which is the origin of the festival's alternative name, the Double Fifth Festival. The Chinese calendar is lunisolar, so the date of the festival varies from year to year on the Gregorian calendar.
