The number of people who volunteered for the military during WWII was unlike anything the US had ever seen before. The military gained around 10 million soldiers, some that were not aloud to serve even tried to fake their way in. The amount of pride Americans had for themselves was incredible and sadly that is something we may never experience again.

The Selective Service Act made specifications for who could and could not register for draft. The age started as 21 to 36, but once the war started it expanded to 18 to 45. The act also made it so that those who had religious beliefs and practices prohibiting violence did not have to serve. Men were drafted by lottery style, there service lasted for 12 months, and only 900,000 men could be trained at one time; these among other were more of the specifications. War was at large and America needed a controlled way to get a military ready to fight it, this was their way.

African-American, Hispanic, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Filipino; all of these and many other races were represented in the American military during WWII. America was still segregated at this time, but after the war came more progress against racism in the states. Minorities felt they had done their part for our country and deserved respect, and they sure did.

Rationing was created to keep food stable. It made sure that there was not a shortage for the people or the troops. People though had to give up much for their troops. In turn though there were more jobs so people had more money and we able to provide better for themselves. In the end rationing worked out quite well and kept people from starving in the war.

They also helped to stop money from circulating and lower inflation. War bonds gave a lot of financial support to the military and really boosted the funding for it.

The Arsenal of Democracy is a phrase to describe America in WWII. They promised to help supply the UK with supplies but that they would be staying out the war; this was of course before Pearl Harbor. This mainly refers to the collective efforts of the industries in America. Through this more jobs were created because more materials were needed. This in turn began to raise the economy and along with it raise up America.

Many Japanese Americans were takin into internment camps because of the fear of them revolting against America. This was all part of an executive order laid out by President FDR. It kept the Japanese away and out of contact of the war so they could not fight against us, yet we still took Japanese men and had them fight for us. This was initially cause because of fear, but it lasted much longer than it should have, eventually though America did apologize for this.
