The Kingdom of Bahrain is an island nation in the Persian Gulf. Bahrain comprises a beautiful archipelago of 50 natural islands and 33 artificial ones. Together with several other Arabian Gulf territories, the island was a British Protectorate in the 1960s. According to the Protectorate Treaty, the British would offer protection to Bahrain in the event of attacks by sea. The catch? Bahrain was forbidden to build international relations with any other nations without the consent of Britain. The agreement effectively allowed Britain indirect but near-absolute control over the island nation.

World War II brought sweeping changes to the global landscape, and Bahrain was no exception. Discontent over British rule had been simmering for a while but would soon tip over. Numerous protests took place. Conflict and riots became more commonplace. On August 15, 1971, the two countries finally signed an agreement that freed Bahrain from being a British Protectorate. Four months later, Britain left, and Bahrain became an independent country.

Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa was Bahrain’s first emir and ascended the throne when the country gained independence. A king beloved by his people, he was responsible for introducing numerous reforms that transformed the economy and stability of the country. Bahrain rose to become the financial hub of the Arabian Gulf during the emir’s 38-year reign.

It’s no surprise why the people of Bahrain believe true independence came when the emir ascended the throne on December 16, 1971. Despite Britain officially handing over the reins much before in August, the emir’s rule meant Bahrain as a nation had symbolically come into its own. And the celebrations continue every December with fireworks, shows, and a range of cultural events.

Bahrain, although it is the smallest country in the Arabian Gulf, is one of the most beautiful and elegant Gulf countries, and I consider Bahrain to be the sparkling and sparkling jewel of the Gulf. One of the best places for tourism in Bahrain is Manama, as it is the jewel and one of the most famous markets there is the gold market. There you will find everything that comes to your mind in terms of gold, precious gems and pearls, which Bahrain has been famous for since ancient times. The second place that I will recommend to every tourist, especially in the summer, is Amwaj, and Durrah is one of the best places for tourism in Bahrain. The most famous seas in Bahrain and one of the most luxurious. When you swim in the waters of Bahrain, it will make you feel that you are in the Maldives or the Comoros due to its beauty and splendor. I hope that you will visit one of the places that I have nominated.

المعلمة المشرفة : نرمين علي بدوي

A Visit to the Tree of Life

If you are looking for a unique and memorable experience in Bahrain, you should definitely visit the Tree of Life. This is a 400-year-old mesquite tree that stands alone in the middle of the desert, surrounded by miles of sand. The tree is a mystery, as no one knows how it survives without any apparent source of water. Some people believe that it is a miracle, while others think that it has deep roots that tap into an underground aquifer.

The Tree of Life is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists, who come to admire its beauty and resilience. The tree is also a symbol of hope and faith for many people, who see it as a sign of God’s grace and power. The tree is located about 2 km off the Musakar Highway, near Jebel Dukhan. You can reach it by car or by bike, but be prepared for a bumpy ride on the dirt road.

The best time to visit the Tree of Life is during the cooler months, from October to March, when the weather is pleasant and the tree is green and lush. You can also enjoy the stunning views of the desert landscape and the clear sky. The tree is open to visitors 24/7, but you might want to avoid the crowds during the weekends and holidays. You can also bring a picnic basket and enjoy a relaxing meal under the shade of the tree.

The Tree of Life is a must-see destination for anyone who wants to witness a natural wonder and a cultural icon in Bahrain. It is a place where you can appreciate the beauty of nature and the spirit of life. It is a place where you can feel inspired and amazed. It is a place where you can find peace and tranquility.

Done by : Ahmed Ali Almulla.

Class: 2/1.

1- Manama Souq

One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the old culture of Bahrain is to take a journey in one of the Kingdom’s old Souqs (Souq is the Arabic word for marketplace). Manama Souq is one of the famous Bahrain’s tourist places.

Manama Souq is an open-air market where you can still experience the authentic street life of the kingdom, starting with its location in the heart of Manama. Marking the entrance to Manama Souq is Bab al-Bahrain, which is a historical building shaped like an arch. Go through this gateway to experience true Bahrain.

You can find everything in this old market, from expensive jewellery to souvenirs to exotic spices and local dates. It is a must-visit not only to get to know authentic Bahrain but also to shop for merchandise that you cannot find anywhere else.

2- Bab Al Bahrain

One of the Bahrain tourist places that attract the attention of all tourists, the ancient gate was restored in 1945 by Sir Charles Belgrave, who was the advisor to the government of Bahrain at that time. It was renewed again in 1986 By placing the Islamic character in all the details, rich in accurate inscriptions and Quranic verses in the most beautiful Arabic calligraphy.

Bab Al Bahrain is located at the entrance to the central business district and is a great place to take some souvenir photos, and many activities are held at Bab Al Bahrain, such as exhibitions that are filled with popular products, handmade, and home products.

3- Bahrain National Museum

Visiting Bahrain National Museum is an outstanding way to learn all about the history of Bahrain.

It is without a doubt one of the top places to visit in Bahrain. The building itself is enough of an attraction with its beautiful architecture and stunning beachfront location.

Built-in 1988, the museum extends over a total area of 27,800 square meters. It features nine halls across six main sections, summarizing 4,000 years of the Kingdom’s history. The archaeological finds from ancient Dilmun make some of the most popular Bahrain attractions but the reproduction of the old Souq is definitely not to be missed as well.

Moreover, the museum is not just a place to feature the rich past, the theater holds all kinds of shows, and there are also new contemporary exhibits all the time.

4- Beit Al Quran

Beit Al Quran has the finest collection of ancient Qurans in the region; this wonderful place displays Qurans from almost every century since the advent of Islam in 610, as well as some of the earliest translations into European languages. In addition to Qurans, it also houses manuscripts, wood carvings and examples of Islamic calligraphy, and houses a library that is home to works by the likes of ancient Persian poets Rumi and Omar Khayyam. There is also the miniature Qurans, the smallest of which (from 18th-century Persia) measures only 4.7cm by 3.2cm.

Bahrain Fort, also known as Portugal Fort, is located in Bahrain on the Arabian Peninsula. Archaeological excavations conducted since 1954 have unearthed traces of an artificial mound of 12 meters (39 feet) high containing seven stratigraphic layers, created by various occupants of the 2,300 BC until the 18th century, it was once the capital of the Dilmun civilization and was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2005. The site has been called “the most important site in antiquity” in Bahrain. The first excavations at the site were conducted by the Danish expedition between 1954 and 1972, and later by the French mission from 1977, and since 1987 no Bahrain archaeologists have participated. With this work, archaeological discoveries have revealed seven civilizations' urban structures starting with the Dilmun Empire, the most important ancient civilization in the region, and a Danish expedition revealed that it was a prominent Hellenistic site.Bahrain Fort was built on Bahrain Island, on the northern seashore. On a clear day, it is also seen by those who walk. It stands like a “sentinel” near Manama, the capital of Bahrain; 6 km (4 mi) away from Manama on the fertile northern coast. The telephone is the largest in the Gulf region and was built close to the port and seashore land reclamation.

Sayed Ali Alaradi

2/9
