The Truman show is an allegory because it represents our world and how we are not as open minded as we can be. We almost have society telling us what we can and can't do or think and if we go outside of societies standards there are always people who try to almost bring us back in and disregard what we think. It compares to the director and how he wouldn't allow Truman to see outside of Seahaven. Christof controlled and manipulated everyone around Truman's actions in order for him to believe in the reality he created for him. Similar to Plato's allegory of the cave in which a prisioner is shown what only what someone else wants them to see it's almost a shadow world. Once they see the real world it's completely different from what they are shown. It's almost a different perception.

The Truman Show is a metaphor for how "we accept the reality that is presented to us" which is what Christof says in the movie. Truman is trapped in the dome which to him is his world that he has accepted to be the only possible society until he is presented otherwise which is like in our world. Say we see an influencer living one life and to us that is the only life they live because that is the reality we are presented, but there may be so much more to their world that we have not been introduced to. Truman lives in a sort of simulation as others watch him which is a parallel to our society because we do and watch things that are based off of our external influences. The Truman show also shows one type of society which is almost puppet like and they live in the suburbs living middle class lives which can also symbolize how we see our "society" or towns around us as one thing, but if we were to go to another country with more or less things then it's almost like how Truman is stepping out of the dome into an unknown world.

Throughout the movie truman is trapped within the society christof created for him in order to produce a TV show. Being born in this TV show, Truman is forced to accept the reality created for him by christof and the actors of the show. This could be an allegory for how some people decide to accept they're reality even when faced with things that directly oppose it. It can also, be an allegory for how we consume media. Many of the people watching not only ignored the moral implications of what they were watching, but also got incredibly emotionally attached to the idea of Truman. The idea of a normal 9-5 worker that you can watch do things captivates the audience without allowing them considering the issues with that. Afterward, simply moving on to the next show.

How the Truman show is an allegory is the story of Truman's life since birth is seen as any other normal person's life but the hidden message would be that his life is a fantasy world where everyone controls what happens next. He only knows what's in Seahaven creating this idea that life is almost always perfect. It's almost like we don't realize the extent to which everyone is going to create this "show." Not only do they plan out who is in Truman's life but the emotional affect they have on him. This is seen especially through the reoccurrence of his dad until the day they meet again. Christoff went out of his way to make sure this scene was perfect by timing everything and the different camera angles.
