I am quite confused because of SOW as everything is deliberately laid out as planned. The issue is I’m not really sure what must be followed and what can be altered based on our own choice; thus, I need answers to the questions posed below in order for me to get a bigger picture of what SOW about.
  1. Should we completely refer to the SOW? 
  2. How about the lesson outline? To what extend we can tailor the learning outline according to our own will?
  3. Must the content standard and learning standard be exactly complied with as allocated in the SOW? To clarify, in each and every lesson, the content standards and learning standards are all given from lesson 1 until the consecutive lessons.
In Year 4 SOW English (SK), as in Lesson 2:
Content Standard: 2.1 Communicate simple information intelligibly.
Learning Standard: 2.1.5 Describe people and objects, using suitable statements.
For lesson 2, it focuses on speaking skills. But, can I use another content standard and learning standard instead? Perhaps instead of 2.1.5 for lesson 2, I use 2.1.2?
  1. 4. It is all planned accordingly based on the cycle: Listening> Speaking> Reading> Writing> Language Arts. So, must we repeat the cycle repeatedly? And can I change the sequence of the skills for each cycle?
I hope to understand this not because to just clear my doubts in the assignments, but also to give me better insights so I know how to plan lessons as a teacher.
