These are the Skillathon guides for our Dairy Heifer, Rabbit, and future Chicken exhibitors! Make sure to look at them to prepare yourself for the upcoming fair!

For our first-year showmen, the Skillathon is a series of stations based off of the sections in your respective guides. Everyone showing this year is in the "Senior Age Group", meaning you'll need to study every section.

Padlets only letting me upload one per post, but they should all appear under FFA Showmen.

There are multiple calculations that must be done (we'll help guide you if needed), as well as photos that must show you working on different things with your animal, as well as a short essay.

So at the end of your Record Book a short essay is required. These are the prompts for the 2024 essays, and they vary depending on which animal you’ll be showing and your age group. Remember, we’re all in the senior age group!

The Florida State Fair offers multiple scholarship opportunities for Juniors & Seniors showing an animal. These are all due by December 3rd.

Dairy, Rabbit and Chicken exhibitors are able to apply for the two "Youth In Agriculture" scholarships available.

Dairy exhibitors ONLY are able to apply for the "Dillard Memorial Scholarship".

The "Youth Livestock Grant" is only for exhibitors that breed their own projects.

Chicken Showman Workshop

On December 2nd the state fair is having a workshop for poultry. It’s $5 per person (but i’m not sure if our chapter would cover that). Registration ends November 27th. More info on their instagram page. This is the same day as the FFA dog wash so plan accordingly*

Hey y’all! We are thinking of having a banquet instead of a field trip, details to follow but it will be around 5-7:30 pm in late April. Tickets will be $25 dollars for chapter members and their first 2 guests ($25 EACH) and any other additional guests are $30 each with dinner and dessert provided. There will be awards for seniors, showman, and officers as well as superlatives! Please select “Yes” if you would be interested and “No” if you aren’t.

Volunteer instructions-

The Pinellas County Farm Bureau - Children’s area in the new Majeed Discovery Garden.

The volunteers should use the entrance at 12520 Ulmerton Rd. Largo

Parking can be in the main lot or the lot at the EMS building. We will have the space for activities from the covered picnic tables to the outdoor classroom.

Please arrive by 5:30pm and check in with Bonnie. Text Bonnie at 727-712-6243 - if they need.

The activities in the Children’s area will start at 6pm and shut down around 8:30pm.

The Gardens are open until 9:30pm.

Water and snacks will be provided. Please dress for the weather

The Florida State Fair will be here in February. Rabbits show on 2/7 and cows show on 2/14 and 2/15. Reminder if you go to the fair and take a picture as proof the Cs will give you extra credit

Goldenfest is March 7th from 9-2! Keep an eye out for the sign up, coming soon. If you want to help out with a golden retriever meet up this is perfect for you

Our annual banquet is on April 24th!! We are so excited to have you all come. Tickets will go on sale March 1st and will go till April 3rd. It will be $25 dollars for the chapter members ticket, $25 for guest 1, $25 for guest 2, and $30 for any additional guests you bring. If you have questions please let me know/look out for more info
