This political cartoon portrays Soviet soldiers in a tank in East Germany that are surprised to see a submarine periscope labeled "German Underground," showing that the Soviet Union wants to make people speculate that the Uprising was a result of an East German underground organization, continuing to sow doubt about East Germany and making the audience feel more suspicious of the East Germans. The illustrator's portrayal of the Soviet soldiers as surprised conveys that the Soviet Union is innocent and fights more fairly than the East Germans, as they would not be able to consider anything as secretive as underground organizations to do their bidding. This portrayal of the Soviet Union as innocent to the point of naivety is emphasized to make them seem like the victims, which is ironic as they are the only ones portrayed with the weapons. However, this portrayal does support the illustrator's point in convincing the audience that the Soviet Union did nothing wrong as they are only doing their duty, and that the East Germans are suspicious and sneaky.

During the time after Stalin's death, the Soviet Union was desperate to appease the East German people and give them hope of improvement, but they were too aggressive in increasing production and led to many unhappy workers who felt the Soviet Union only cared about increasing the economy, and not East Germans or quality of life in East Germany. The Soviet Union wanted to fast-track a strong socialist government system that mimicked the Soviet Union's but fled from East to West Germany and, of those who stayed, many revolted.

This political cartoon portrays West Germany and the Soviet leader Malenkov as two men; West Germany as the man on the left and Malenkov as a doctor. Although East Germany is suffering (conveyed through the screams from the house next door labeled "East Germany"), Malenkov shows the bag of "Cure Alls" to West Germany. However, from the name itself, claiming to be a cure for any ailment, it is clear that this is false. Essentially, this political cartoon conveys that although the Soviet Union claims they can help West Germany through reunification, other nations should beware of them, as they will never fulfill their promises, shown by the instability and suffering in East Germany.

This political cartoon is intended to portray the Soviet leaders' blatant disregard for East Berlin while the leaders themselves are able to continue to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle, invoking a sense of anger in the viewer. This political cartoon holds the Soviet Union largely responsible for the food shortages in East Berlin as they not only ignored the problems faced by those in a territory under their control, but significantly worsened them through industrial and agricultural collectivization.
