A businesses preferred supplier has had several price increases in the last 6 months and they have been notified of another increase within the next 3 months. Does the company continue using this supplier while having to pass on these increases to their customers or do they change to a supplier who can offer them a better rate for the next 12 months.

Technological environment.
An insurance company which has several different brands has just purchased another existing insurance company, they are changing the process on how insurance is underwritten so it will be done by one department and one process is followed. Each different brand is operating on different software systems (some use multiple systems) do they purchase a new software programme that can be used by all brands across the board which will make the process a lot easier for the underwriting department given they will be doing this for all brands or do they keep the current systems and train the underwriters on all systems. Which will cost more and which will make the process smoother and less time consuming ?

Socio-cultural environment
The target market that business x's main customer base is from is changing, stats show that the demographic characteristics are changing in this particular area. Does the company look for their usual customers in a wider area or do they put a new strategy in place to target the up and coming customer base.

Political environment
A building business that primarily builds new houses has noticed that due to the change in government and the uncertainty within the new government that the market for new housing has slowed a little and is not at the peak it was at prior to elections. They also notice existing home owners are deciding to stay in their homes and renovating them to suit their lifestyle instead of selling and building new. Does this company change its target market to also include people who are looking to renovate ?

Michelle
