At first, I didn’t wat to be a nurse, I wanted to be a doctor. But last year, when I was in the hospital, I started to admire the nurses and I wanted to become like them. I have always loved helping others, especially children, I have a special relationship with them. I love to help them, make them think everything is okay, distract them from their illness. Actually, I would like to be a scrub nurse. I like the operating room, see the surgeries, but, especially, I’m a really precise person with a good photographic memory. After graduation, I would like to take specialization to become a scrub nurse. My family is very proud of me, especially my grandfather who was a nurse. His dream is to see her granddaughter become a nurse like him. But the most beautiful thing is to make children happy in a bad atmosphere.

A nurse is responsible for patient care and helps him during his treatment process. It’s not easy being a good nurse, but I think there are fundamental point to becoming one.

First you need to be able to create a good relationship with patients and with other nurses. It’s very important to make the patient feel comfortable. Then I think a good nurse should also have a lot of empathy. The empathy is associated with better healing and ensures better performances of heath care. In my opinion, a good nurse should also be very precise in the preparation of drugs, in the time of administering drugs and in managing patients. I think I will be a good nurse because I respect all these points. I can create a good relationship with patient, especially with children, and other nurses. I’m very empathetic person and I’m very precise person. I like to be very clean and precise in preparing therapy and administering it.

PETS COME TO VISIT

Patricia Stevens was a nurse and when she was in hospital for the birth for her twins, she wanted to see only her dog. When she was taken to the hospital entrance, she was so excited when her dog towards her. In recent years, hospitals have found that pet visits can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, and help patient to heal faster. An advanced practice nurse in a hospital in Texas, remembers a woman with lung cancer. She rarely ate anything, and she never got out of bed, but when her dog visited her, she sat up, looked happier and started talking. Pet visits are also allowed on pediatric hospital and children have a strong connection to their pets and they feel better. Many people think pets will transmit disease to patient and that pet visiting is not a good idea. Lea Ann Matura comments that it’s a good idea but it is important to have a clear policy and a list of rules guidelines before pets are allowed to visit.

I would like to teach and guide the student correctly because the training of new nurses is an important and fundamental phase. Since I am a very calm, kind, and empathetic person, I think I could become a very good tutor. Often one of the students' problems is the relationship with their tutor and if the latter is hostile, the student may have difficulties with the university. I don’t think I’m very good at explaining concepts, but I think I’m very good at demonstrating my work. To conclude, I think I could become a good tutor because I like to stand next to the students and explain the work of the nurse.

My latest hospital internship was in the neonatal intensive care unit, and my tutor's name is Giorgio. I'm getting along very well with him, and he has taught me a lot about newborns. He immediately started teaching me how to manage a newborn in the intensive care unit independently, from how to manage an intubated patient to how to perform blood gas analyses and how to prepare therapies. A very important moment for me was when Giorgio let me manage a patient completely independently for the entire shift. He complimented me at the end of the day, and this made me realize that I could be a good nurse for newborns. Nurse Giorgio's dedication to these vulnerable newborns was palpable, and his passion for his work was truly inspiring. He instilled in me not only the technical skills but also the profound responsibility and privilege of caring for these precious lives.

However, after various internships, I discovered that I want to work in neonatology departments. I really enjoy caring for newborns; it perhaps makes me feel a bit like a mother, but above all, I like being able to manage a patient who is completely dependent on a nurse's help.
