At the beginning of the class, the teacher reminded us about EE as a core curriculum of the IB diploma. Then she introduced the new mark scheme for EE (engagement/RPPF for 6 marks and critical thinking.) Also the "Iceberg model"----we need to work hard to prepare before actually writing your essay, as well as what we need to do to accomplish EE. At last, we formed in different group based on the EE subject to discussed overall process/time of EE 12 stages (from choosing subject to final comment on the RPPF). This is my first time to directly face the so-called "extended essay", and also to get familiar with the whole process. Before this seminar, the only thing that I know about plagiarism is that it means you use others' idea as your own without citing it. However, in class our teacher showed us about different types of academic misconducts, including plagiarism, collusion, and duplication of work. Also, we learned about the difference between paraphrasing plagiarism and word-for-word plagiarism. In order to show our understanding, we took an online-examination, which is Indiana University Bloomington Certificate on Plagiarism Test. It was so hard that it took me about half an hour to get the certificate.
