Confidence and Anxieties

I would rate my current confidence level at 5.5/10. I am confident in my ability to counsel students, listen to them, and put their mental health first. I am lacking confidence (and some knowledge) when it comes to navigating the school policies and the other aspects of school counseling outside of the mental health. This does heighten my anxiety and I am aware of my best ways to bring my self back to center. I also feel confident in my ability to grow and learn while "on the job".

I want to approach this semester with a clean slate. At the end of my clinical internship I was feeling very burned out and questioned my decision to come back into an internship. After a relaxing summer, I am feeling rejuvenated and excited to be back in the schools.

On the heels of a year and a half of not being in school/being in and out of school, our students are ready for a "normal" year despite COVID not being gone. I think our students will need structure and support in the first months of the year. Structure from teachers and also myself/school counselors. Support in both academics and emotionally.

I also need structure and support :) Taking the summer off left me with no routine and while it was much needed, I am ready to have some daily structure. I will need support when it comes to navigating my new role, continuing to find my voice as a school counselor, and feeling confident in my role vs feeling like an imposter.
