To solve the problem of students spending too much time on homework we have decided to propose the idea of a class period students can take like a "study hall" and can complete their homework in that time period, reducing the work load at home

While talking to the administration of our high school about this problem, they recommended a different method than having a class period for work. She explained that students might not use their time wisely and take the class just to have a free period and do whatever they want. This might cause distraction to other students trying to do their work, accomplishing nothing.

Dr. Calvert has suggested making the lunch period about an hour and all students, grades 9-12, will have the same lunch period. Students would be allowed to eat anywhere around the school and do any schoolwork they might have. This can include making up a test, doing homework, or just having free time and eating lunch. Having this would allow students to make the decision on whether they want to take initiative and do their work or save it for home.

Teens usually participate in other activities such as sports and have practice after school which can affect their concentration level when it is time to do homework. Long days at school, practices for extracurricular activities and then loads of homework at night take a toll on young students.
