         <description><![CDATA[<div>For 8 months out of the year the Alaskan Tree Frog hibernates in a suspended frozen state.   Unlike other frogs who hibernate in the deep depths of a lake or pond, the Alaskan Tree Frog hibernates on land embedded in some soft leaves or dirt.  The Alaskan Tree Frog accomplishes this by building up high concentrations of glucose allowing up to 60% of it's body to freeze, it stops breathing and the heart stops beating.  This enables the frog to survive in temperatures as low as -80 degrees Fahrenheit.  Since the Alaskan Tree Frog hibernates outside of water it allows for them to become active in the early spring before other frogs, and they are able to begin the breeding process sooner.   </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Every year people slip and fall while climbing snow covered mountains.&nbsp; A lot of the times these people are injured to severely to go for help and end up dying of hypothermia. The Chicago Tribune reported more than 40 deaths in Poland during the 2016 winter due to hypothermia after a fall in the mountains in sub-freezing temperatures.&nbsp;<br>The Alaskan Tree Frogs ability to freeze itself and then thaw when temperatures are safe, could help to create a jacket that detects core body temperature. If core body temperature reaches a dangerously low level the jacket automatically produces heat to bring the core body temperature to safety.&nbsp;<br>Understanding how the Alaskan Tree Frog is able to maintain a healthy status with such high concentration of glucose could help with research on diabetes in humans.&nbsp;<br>Understanding how the Alaskan Tree Frog stops blood flow for up to eight months at a time without any lasting affects could help in research on blood clots in humans.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Prototype 3 consist of the same jacket that now has a hood that can be zipped completely up to protect the face from wind exposure. The warming technology has been securely sewn into the lining of the jacket. The thermostat has been equipped with a GPS and SOS signal that is activated automatically if the warming technology is activated.  Solar panels have been added to the back and connected to the thermal warming technology and GPS locator for charging. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The warming suite (prototype 3) provides safety to anyone exposed to externally low temperatures for an extended period of time. The inside lining of the jacket has flexible thermostats that are capable of reading core body temperatures. If the thermostats detect that the core body temperature has gone below a safe temperature it activates thermal warmers that are inserted in various areas of the jacket. The thermal warmers are energized by a solar power pack located in the hood of the jacket. As a final safety measure if the thermal warmers are activated a signal is sent out with a SOS and GPS location.  </div>]]></description>
