         <description><![CDATA[<div>Differentiation is something that is so important within the classroom. It ensures that each student is met and working on his or her level. Differentiation is something that my school district pushes and supports heavily. I currently use differentiation in my classroom in a variety of ways. One way I use it is through 6 Minute Solution. This is a daily reading fluency practice that takes 6 minutes. Students work in partner groups and read a passage at their level. The provide feedback to one another and track their progress throughout the week. They read the same passage for the week to build their fluency and see their growth. This has been great in my classroom as it is the same activity for all but it is differentiated for each student's level. Additionally, I pull small groups in both math and reading where I am able to meet each student and work with them at their instructional level. During the independent part of lessons, I use scaffolding to meet each student's needs. One goal I have to further incorporate differentiation into my classroom, is to expand the options that I have during center time. I do have many centers that are differentiation. However,  I would like to have more differentiated centers. This gives an additional time where students are working specifically at their level! Because my district supports differentiation so heavily, I have many resources available and have many people who provide any support I may need in incorporating it into my classroom. My Achievement Advisor for ELA/Social Studies has been a great resource for me and has helped me greatly in incorporating differentiation.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I would love to start using digital QR codes within my classroom. I have seen many teachers use these in their classroom for a variety of different things: task cards, sight words, math practice, listen to reading, social studies/science, etc. There are so many opportunities for QR codes within the classroom. I only have ChromeBooks and do not have Tablets, so this is not something I am able to do yet. I am planning on creating a DonorsChoose project for Tablets so that I will be able to incorporate this into my classroom. I believe that it will significantly increase engagement for students. It is also very beneficial as it can be incorporated in essentially all subject areas.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I love using a variety of different engagement strategies within my classroom. I have incorporated a variety of different Kagan Strategies. These strategies are heavily encouraged by my district and I have seen many benefits in using them within my classroom. My students use some of these strategies daily and others with less frequency. We use "think, pair, share" or "timed, pair, share" multiple times throughout the day in all subject areas. During this activity, students share and discuss different things with a partner. I teach ELD so I typically provide some type of structure for them when using this activity for my first graders (either a verbal sentence frame or providing one on the board). Another daily Kagan strategy we use is "stand up, hand up, pair up". Students walk around the room with their hand up to find a partner. Once they find a partner, they can complete whatever task we are working on. They also use this daily to find a "read to someone" partner. I use this in all subject areas as well. Their time with their partner can also vary from a couple of sentences practicing sight words or spelling words, to a minute or two where they are engaged in a discussion. A modified version of "quiz, quiz, trade" is also a strategy that I use in my classroom. My students will have some type of activity (i.e. fluency pyramid, sight word flashcard, math equation, etc.) they will find a partner, "quiz" their partner and switch. All of these strategies have really increased student engagement. They also provide opportunities for both social and language development. These strategies also allow all students to have opportunities to participate. I have loved using these strategies because of these benefits and because I see how excited my students get about their learning while using these strategies!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I am involved in quite a few different teams and committees at my school. The first team I am a part of is my grade level PLC team. There are 3 first grade classrooms, so there are 3 of us on our team. I am the PLC team lead. At the beginning of the year we established our team norms. We have done a very good job abiding by these norms. One thing I want to work on within this team is being able to have crucial/critical conversations when needed. I am very much a people pleaser and tend to avoid any conversations that may be difficult whenever possible, even though they may be crucial and very necessary to have. I have been working with my Achievement Advisor at my school and we plan on reading the book "Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High" by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler this summer.<br>Each team lead is also a part of a learning team. Our learning team meets regularly to collaborate, research, study and be involved in discussions. We are currently doing a book study on critical elements of a PLC. As a team lead, we are to bring what we have learned back to our team so that we can be effective within our PLCs. I am also on the Principal Advisory Committee. This is a team of certified and classified staff and admin who meet regularly to discuss any concerns across campus. I feel like I am a contributing member to this team. I joined the team when it was essentially a brand new team. Together, as a team and through input from all staff, we developed five cultural commitments. Staff members are encouraged to bring any concerns that fall under one of the commitments to the team for discussion and to create an action plan in addressing the concern. Staff writes these concerns annoymously through either a Google Form or a written concern card placed in a box in the work room. I have taken on reviewing these concerns, adding them to our meeting agendas and bringing them to the team. I am also a part of the PBIS Tier 1 and Tier 2 team. We meet regularly to discuss our school's PBIS program, review student data concerning behavior, etc. My school is currently completing a Critical Needs Assessment through the lens of special education. I am a part of the CNA team where we are reviewing studies and researching about the subject. We are then creating a plan of action of how to improve our school's special education programs and test scores. I do feel like I am contributing to the teams that I am on as I have taken different roles and responsibilities, such as presenting to staff, facilitating break out sessions for staff, etc. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Blog 2-the integration of technology is so important especially now in education.  I would continue to find ways to expose your students to a variety of technology.<br>Blog 3-Kagan strategies are very engaging and students and staff love them.  I would encourage you to continue using them.<br>Blog 4-It sounds like you are involved in a variety of ways with your school.  This will allow you to step up as a leader at your school.  It also allows your fellow staff members see you in those important roles.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Formative assessment data impacts future learning in my classroom in many different ways. I often use post it notes as a quick exit ticket that allows me to see mastery of what the learning target of a lesson is. I will sort exit tickets based on if they were answered correctly or not. Then I will group incorrect answers into similar mistakes that were made if any. I will then pull small groups to reteach either that same day or the next. I also use bins that allow students to reflect on how they feel they have done, "I Understand, I Understand A Little, I Don't Understand" My students turn their post it notes into one of the three bins. This allows me to have conversations with students and help them reflect on how they are doing.</div>]]></description>
