Hi, I'm Lily DiCicco. My purpose for taking this class is too advance my knowledge and persist in AP classes. I signed up for this course to prepare myself for college, construct what an ideal college class may look and feel like, and display myself to colleges as a hard working student. In this class, I hope to gain: an advanced vocabulary, a better development for exceptional essays, and to increase my test scores. A strength of mine is always getting my assignments done on time and doing my best on them. A weakness I have is not doing well on tests. Some interesting facts about me are: I'm happy to be taking another AP class, I lived in Minnesota for 12 years, and I have two dogs named Sunny and Shaggy.

At Havemeyer General Hospital, in Philadelphia, Dr. Eric Parrish, Chief of the Psychiatry Unit, recently took on the job of counseling a young man, Max, who is losing his grandmother. Aside from Erics work, he has to deal with the stress of his family. He's recently divorced and is having an on-going custody battle with his ex-wife Caitlin over their daughter Hannah.
After a session with the boy, Eric is concerned that Max is obsessed with a girl, Renée Bevilacqua, that he tutors and begins to worry about the girls safety. Max also explains how every fifteen minutes he has a routine to help keep him content. To add even more to Eric's plate, a student of his, Kristine Malin, accuses him of sexual assault. With all the tension and stress already existing in their lives, the girl Max is obsessed with turns up dead. At the same time of the murder, Max is missing making it seem like he committed the crime. Max is soon found trying to take his own life attempting to commit a mall bombing. Eric runs in and stops the boy, to realize that a bombing was never one of Max's true intentions. During the novel Max and Eric are both constantly framed for the murder, but in the end its a plot twist no one expected.

4) Every Fifteen Minutes: Essential Question Asked and my Answer

Question:
Is losing one thing worth risking everything?

Answer:
My answer is, no. Losing something can often cause you to feel like you've lost yourself; however, its not worth risking your life for. In Every Fifteen Minutes, Max Jakubowski loses his grandmother and it makes him feel completely lost. He goes MIA until Dr. Eric Parrish sees him on the news threatening to bomb the local mall and keeping hostages in one of the stores. Now, Max would never hurt a person but he would hurt himself. He never had the nerve to physically bring pain to himself on his own; therefore, the potential "bombing" comes into play. He wanted the cops to shoot him when he said he was threatening the mall and shoppers. Thats how he wanted his life to end. In conclusion, losing one thing is not something to take your own life over.

     1. “Take it Easy” -The Eagles
"Take it Easy” corresponds with the novel because Max Jakubowski is a really high risk man and Dr. Parrish is trying to help him “take it easy” and comfort him through the hard times that he’s facing. This song would be played during therapy and during the mall “bombing”.

     2. “idontwanttobeyouanymore” -Billie Eilish
This songs about getting to a really low point in your life and you don’t know what to do, you just don't want to be yourself anymore. In the novel, Max loses his grandmother who was his very best friend and only family who cared about him. She’s the only one who showed him that someone cared about him and that he has a purpose in life. This song would be played after his grandma dies and Max goes missing.

3. "Something's Missing" -Sheppard
Max Jakubowski feels like somethings out of place when his grandmother dies and it sets him on a long road of stress and uncertainty.

Quote:
“They never see me coming.
Know why?
Because I’m already there.”
-Narrator

This quote strongly expresses one of the many themes, Psychosis. Throughout the story the narrator talks about how he's a sociopath and when he said this I feel that it strongly applied to being one. This quote is relevant in everyday life because there are people like this that you walk past all the time, but you never realize it.

1. Dr. Eric Parrish, is Chief of the Psychiatric Unit at Havemeyer General Hospital. He is a very determined man and will go to the extremes to protect Max.
2. Max Jakubowski, is a seventeen year old boy who is suffering the loss of his grandmother. He is portrayed as the threat to the community but he's actually being framed.
3. Renée Bevilacqua, is the murder victim of the story. Her murder was set up to look as if Max or Eric did it...but thats not the truth.
4. Caitlyn, is Erics ex-wife. She's often greedy, rude and unfair when it comes to the divorce and who gets to see their daughter, Hannah. However, towards the end of the novel ,after everything Erics been through, she's finally generous and lets Eric see Hannah.
5. Hannah, is Eric and Caitlyns little girl. Even though she's little, she still understands the troubles and stress her father is going through.
6. Dr. Laurie Fortunato, portrays herself as the friendly coworker to Eric and the rest of the staff. For most of the novel, she is shown as the alcoholic mother who doesn't care about her son. Once she finally realizes the seriousness of her sons condition, she gradually turns into the mother Max always wanted.
9. Dr. Sam Ward, was Erics right-hand-man. Well, Eric thought he was. Sam isn't as major of a character until the end when his true side shows.
10. Mr. Perino, is a mental patient on Erics unit and alike Sam, he isn't a major character until the end. During the fire, Sam tries to kill Eric, making the murder that he framed Eric for come full circle. He almost formulated the plan perfectly, until Perino runs out, saving Erics life, but ending Sams.
