         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Definition of Checklist:<br>Checklist are a list of sequenced developmental milestones that educators use when assessing a child's development. Checklist are made from a collection of learning objectives or indicators of development. Educators can use dates to document when the milestone happened.&nbsp;<br><br>Examples: Checklist<br>CDC Milestone checklist<br>Here is an example of a CDC checklist of what milestones a 2 month would be making.<br>https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/actearly/pdf/checklists/Checklists-with-Tips_Reader_508.pdf<br><br>Benefits of Checklist:<br>Checklist can be easy for educators to use. They have milestones that are already designed. Checklist can be flexible and can be used for different age groups. Checklist also allow educators to keep records by placing dates on when a milestone has been meet. Developmental checklist such as the CDC milestones can be used with by educators<br>for planning future activities. Also they can be used with parents to share Childs development and promote and support other developmental steps at home.<br><br>Disadvantage of Checklist:<br>Some disadvantages of checklist are that they do not indicate how well a child performed or completed the milestone. Some educators may find using checklist time consuming. When checklist are completed in a center or school environment they do not include home life and cultural experiences.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Definition of Rubric:<br>A rubric is a scoring tool that represents the performance expectations. Rubrics divide assigned work into sections and gives detailed descriptions of work. Rubrics are guidelines that that distinguish performance.&nbsp;<br><br><br>Examples: Rubrics:<br>Rubrics for preschool would include the the criteria<br>you want to be included and are considered when scoring the performance. Examples of the work is included that is shapes, pictures and or self help skills. <br><br>Benefits of Rubrics:<br>Rubrics can provide guidelines&nbsp; for quality student work and or performance standards. Rubrics can be flexible and can be designed for many areas. Rubrics are adaptable and can be changed. Rubrics can also be translated into grades.&nbsp;<br><br>Disadvantage of Rubrics:<br>Teachers who use rubrics can base the work on other criteria instead of student examples. Teachers can focus on the quantity of characteristics instead of quality of the characteristics and students work.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Definition of Rating Scale:<br>Rating scales are based on extent of the how present the behavior or skill is. A rating scale includes list of characteristics or qualities that are judged by whoever is completing the assessment.&nbsp;<br><br>Example of Rating Scale:<br>Rating Scales list performance standards in one column and then a range of success of the standards in other columns with or without numbers.&nbsp;<br><br>Benefits of using Rating Scale:<br>Rating scales can be quick and easy to use. Rating scales can be easy to use because the person doing the judging/rating has examples or descriptions of of behavior or skill. Rating scales can help the teacher in describing the Childs level of achievement in particular areas.<br><br>Disadvantage of Rating Scales:<br>Rating scales are subjective and can include an educators bias. Educators might rate the child on previous interactions or emotional factors instead of being objective. </div>]]></description>
