Dependent on what viewpoint you decide to look at for this, there are many directions people can go to back-up their beliefs. Looking at it from a standpoint of education, the coronavirus has taken the education system by storm and created an uproar other disease haven't. This year, our school systems were shut down at the beginning of the year to avoiding potential spread of this virus. However, in doing so, this created a burden for many parents in the workforce. Having no other option, many parents were forced to quit their job in order to stay home for their children. On top of that, you have to understand how this virus affected the community not only physically and economically, but mentally. Hearing something like that on the news is not something to blow over. Many families became frantic over the health of their loved ones, but were unable to see them. While I am not saying the flu has had no impact on our community, we have to understand that the unknown of this pandemic has created much more fear than the flu would have. At least for the flu, we have enough knowledge to know how to assess the situation.
