Colm opened the meeting @ 1.15 pm . The agenda was discussed . The Easter cards received from some countries . Everyone was very happy with the great effort the students put in to make the beautiful Easter cards.

 

We discussed the idea of having pen pals . We decided that we would start off by pairing up countries so language would not be a barrier to begin with, it was decided that Ireland would pair with Northern Ireland , Germany with Austria and Slovenia with Croatia. 

We decided that initially to pick a class or in particular an age group within our school that we felt would be best suited for the pen pal initiative . For example Niamh suggested the more senior classes in her school might be more suited to participate in the programme and Colm agreed. We decided to do a student profile of each student in the class that would like to receive a letter from a student in another school. For example to put their name age and likes and maybe a photo of themselves and send off to the school and students can be paired to start the first letter . We put a deadline of the end of May to have the first letters posted.

 

Marin suggested that he would do a very simple dictionary of everyday words in each language and record the pronunciation of the words . Tanja suggested he start with choosing 10 - 15 words for translation in each language of the  countries taking part in our Erasmus programme . 

 

We spoke about sending a postcard once a month to each school/ country and to pick a postcard that depicts our city and country best . This will help to give a nice  visual of each country for our students .

The deadline for the postcards is the end of May.

 

Colm informed us all about their Easter art project where an art teacher is doing a stained glass window design for Easter . This will be put on the blog for all to see when it is finished .

 

Tanja has asked that when you are preparing a video for the blog to send to her that you first upload it onto a you tube channel and you can then obtain a link this link should then be emailed to Tanja for uploading onto the blog.

 

13.55 pm Katharina & Irina (Germany ) joined the meeting along with Renata (Croatia)

The next meeting was set for May 20th @1pm GMT Colm is setting up zoom link .
