§  Cancel culture - the desire to ostracize someone for being in disagreement, a form of aggression and control that includes censorship, interference, and retribution. It allows people to dehumanize others and breaks down communication. It has caused division and is very polarizing

§  Counsel Culture allows for dialogue and understanding the thoughts and perspectives of another in a way that promotes understanding between individuals.

II.       Common language: 30 days 

o   Define spirituality: 

§  the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.

§  Spirituality involves the recognition of a feeling or sense or belief that there is something greater than myself, something more to being human than sensory experience, and that the greater whole of which we are part is cosmic or divine in nature. ... An opening of the heart is an essential aspect of true spirituality.

§  Spiritual practice: what we do to promote integration at interpersonal, group, organizational or societal levels. ~ opening session address

§  Action item: Create a group to define “spirituality” within a week.

o   Define empathy

§  Ability to step into someone else’s shoes as opposed to sympathy which is pity.

o   We lose each other’s definitions because we relate it to different things.

o   Awareness of differences even within groups.  Regional differences.

III.     Cultural responsiveness: 30 days

o   Learn about other people’s context, experiences, 

o   Open minded and not to be prejudice, do not make assumptions about another, be curious, not afraid to ask, 

o   Awareness of self, 

o   Public awareness – we need to facilitate awareness in others for the issue we are tackling.  Educational component?  Framework of operation?  Common definitions?

o   Respectful and acknowledge other people’s perspectives

o   Celebrating the diversity

o   Outside vs inside – seeking those within a context as the experts 

IV.    Shared authority on behalf of humanity: 30 days

o   All of our responsibility, applying it in our own world, life, context

o   Equal value of everyone involved in order not to devalue others

V.      Common Ground: 30 days

o   Defining the terminologies, how we communicate, the words that we use, 

§  Be able to find people to find the share beliefs/ goals

§  Create a network of communication

§  Allies: are we defining terminology where everyone is on the same page?

§  Is there a possibility for didactics?  An educational component?  

§  Cross discipline with different educational backgrounds

o   Common direction
