         <description><![CDATA[<div>It was quite informative and if I wasn't already aware of these issues, I would probably be even more righteously angry than I already am. I would make it mandatory viewing for high school students, but given the state's present animosity towards teaching anything about race, I doubt it would happen.<br><br>Also, guys, the movie is called "13th." There is no "the" in the title.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It was more or less the same from start to finish. I’d learned about how messed up the prison industrial complex was before watching it, so I came into it with some knowledge already. I would say if anything, I feel more passionate about changing the way our prisons work, so that it doesn’t allow this type of injustice to continue. </div>]]></description>

The deep seeded and historical racism present in the prison system is so deeply wrong and inhumane it is demonstrable. It also made we want to personally go to hell for the simple reason of beating up Ronald Reagan. Who i already hated, but now hate even more. Hating Ronald Reagan is the vibe for today and the foreseeable future. Fuck you Ronald.</div>]]></description>

I knew about the Southern Strategy and the War on Drugs era policies but watching this really drove home how it affected people. And now I dislike Ronald and getting the statistics Reagan even more than I did, which is saying something. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The first time I watched 13th, I was content with being taught the history that the textbooks cut from education. I can bet that there is many things that were cut out of the textbooks as a manner to keeping the American history a proud one.&nbsp;<br>Throughout the film, I had felt very conflicted with the genuine hardship and pain these people are unjustly experiencing everyday of their lives. I felt moved to start learning more about the actual history and making changes. It's part of my inspiration to continue to advocate for my people the best way I could. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My initial reaction to this film was how impactful it was in terms of the topics it touched on. In school, I was only taught the basics when it came to racial discrimination and the history of slavery, so being able to learn more about these subjects on a deeper level was really impactful. Especially after going over it in the lecture, I feel like this documentary is extremely crucial for everyone to watch. It helps connect the past to the present and can allow people to better understand how flawed this country is.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When watching the film. I was not all that much surprised by the majority of what the film brought to light. Much of what was revealed in the film I have experienced either through friends, family, or even myself personally. I was not entirely phased when watching it. Not because of the lack of caring or interest (because I was very interested), but simply,y because this is nothing new to me. Being a black man in America, this is a very common reality for me. My father grew up in Inglewood, Ca. so he tells me of many stories that are even scarier than watching this film.</div>]]></description>
