1. Better organization for OnQ.
There were MANY spelling mistakes, wrong quiz answers, unclear instructions. It was hard to navigate OnQ and try to understand the upcoming assignments etc. There was one tutorial for 840 that half the class did not complete the expected discussion because the assignments was not easily located on OnQ. I also find it very unprofessional that there are quiz answers that are incorrect.
2. We NEED lectures.
We are basically cramming a bunch of readings and information every week and expected to understand/internalize everything on our own. We require actual teaching from Queen's. If this is a teach yourself course then our tuition should be lowered as we genuinely have minimal interaction with professors/professionals in terms of lecture. It would be great if tutorials incorporated a lecture like component.
3. The course load (speaking as a part-time student) is excessive and counter productive.
This program was falsely adversities as a "part-time" program. If you want this cohort and future cohorts to be well prepared for the industry there must be a way to grant students time to analyze and internalize the course materials. Many of us are spending the summer break going through the material again at a slower pace so we can actually internalize and sit with the information rather than rushing through.
4. Assignments.
Expectations need to be better explained to students prior to completing the assignment. It would also be great to get sample documents of assignments or to go through in detail of what was expected of us.
5. Course Selection.
Course selection for the next semesters has been very chaotic. We receive several emails, each containing new or different information. There needs to be more flexibility and organization with course availability so that we cal all graduate at our desired timelines.
