Some happy moments in Grace's life was giving birth to her five children and getting married to her husband.

Grace has many impactful stories. Grace was born in Mexico and came to the United States when she was 26 and became a citizen of the United States. This was an incredibly happy moment for her and her children. She went to night school to learn English and worked two jobs to support her family.

After the loss of her son due to cancer, her life lesson would be to cherish every day of your life and don’t take loved ones for granted because you never know when you can lose them. She also stated to always express unconditional love. She also gave the advice to pray everyday and grow in your faith. Having a strong faith in God doesn’t guarantee an easy life, but it makes the hard times easier.

Grace stated that society has shaped the aging process in various ways. In one way society has shaped the aging process is by valuing the importance of physical fitness and healthy eating to increase longevity. Additionally, society has made it easier for elderly people to function by providing support services. One example is that Grace now has the option to order food online and pick it up curbside which helps her eliminate crowds. However, ageism does exist when trying to enter the workforce. Grace had a difficult time finding part-time work and she feels it was due to her age.

Society has changed with the introduction of technology and it can be a positive or negative thing. Grace has had to learn how to use technology for things such as banking, filling out applications, etc. However, technology has also helped her stay connected to her family who lives in Mexico through social media apps like Facebook. Some negatives to technology is that elderly people are often the target of scams. Unfortunately, Grace has been a target for scams and has lost money. Thankfully, it wasn't a large amount. Also she stated that the advancement of medicine helped her son to receive treatments that helped him to manage his pain.

Grace was a supporter of president Kennedy and clearly remembers learning of his assassination. She recalls feeling sad and mourned his loss.

Another impactful news story that Grace remembers was the passing of the Civil Rights Act in 1964. She stated that the Civil Rights Act outlawed discrimination. But feels that discrimation continues to exist in today’s society in various forms.

Grace enjoyed listening to Latin music growing up. She loves a group named “Los Bukis.” Her favorite artist is the lead singer of the group. His name is Marco Antonio Solis. Marc Antonio Solis is known for his love songs and this takes her back to her younger years. She likes all of their songs but her two favorite songs by them are linked below. One song was dedicated to her from her son that passed away.
