The trout were believed to be extinct, in 1937, because of pollution and pressure from fishing and competition from other species, but were discovered in Bear Creek in 2012.</div>]]></description>

The Longhorned tick, or East Asian tick, has been in the U.S.A. for at least 5 years and has also been found in Virginia and West Virginia. The tick is not considered a threat to people, but may have a major impact on animals like cattle, horses, deer, sheep and goats.</div>]]></description>

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed the animals from the federal Endangered Species Act in 2011, but a federal judge returned the wolves back onto the endangered species list in 2014. A few more years of data are needed to confirm the population stabilization.</div>]]></description>

An Aquatic Invasive Species crew with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife found zebra mussels on a pontoon boat from Michigan heading to Alaska. Zebra mussels are a freshwater mussel that are from the Caspian Sea and were transported in ship ballast to the Great Lakes in the 1980s. They’ve been found in 20 states and two Canadian Provinces and can clog waterways and smother native species.</div>]]></description>

They are the newest invasive species spreading throughout Florida. Most can be found in Hillsborough and Miami-Dade counties, but they’re making their way to Charlotte County. Tegu Lizards are a concern because they eat native species, alligator eggs, small rodents and could eat small pets.</div>]]></description>
