Gothic houses are usually old, run-down, and abandoned. Gothic houses do not have to have the traditional gothic architecture. Many gothic stories take place in gothic castles and homes. The castle sits on top of a hill, and the surrounding landscape is overgrown and decaying. An old inventor lived in the castle, and he created an artificial human. The man died before he completed him, so he did not have normal hands. The surrounding area of the castle is a bright suburban neighborhood. A saleswoman walked into the castle and met Edward. The castle was overlooked, despite it being on top of a hill. Although Edward stays in the neighborhood for a little while, he ultimately ends up staying in the castle for the rest of his existence. The castle was where he was created, and where he had to kill his enemy at the end of the movie. They often evoke fear in the people that interact with the buildings. There is a fear of the unknown and uncertainty of what is to come. The castles are usually dark or dimly lit, so people naturally fear what could be hiding inside. Logos is used because people generally try to avoid abandoned and scary houses.
