In 1400 - 1500 The people of Italy were exploring around the world they found multiple different ways to make art and different buildings. They found various different ways to create and build churches and theaters. They were also concurring a lot of land while exploring.

In December 12, 2018 a team of 4 left to go to Antarctica by a Russian base. The group traveled 1200 + miles. It was -43 F. They traveled for 52. days in the Antarctica. They had a wind sled that was powered by a 1600 square foot kite.

This article is about how the Spanish Empire took over the present day California. After arriving in Mexico a few years later Spanish explorers settled in. They started exploring and the first group was led by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo. Other explorers started to explore North America. Two hundred year later many Europeans came in to trade. The Spanish king ordered some Spanish Soldiers to explore California. Spain built a network in California. In 1769 an expedition was planned. Soon Roman Catholic Priests started to enter California and brought Catholicism into the country. After many years of fighting Mexico finally got back their land.

4. . In 1492 the French had a war with Portugal. In so the king sent Vasco da Gama to attack French ships.

5 . The journey back to Portugal happened in August of 1498.
Storms killed many sailors. One ship had to be burned and sunk. The remaining sailors got back to Portugal almost a year after they left India. The ships sailed almost 24,000 miles. Only 54 of the 170 sailors came back.

Roald Amundsen is a Norwegian explorer who was born in 1872 in Borge, Østfold, Norway. He was the first man who reached the South Pole in 1911. He started the expedition on 3rd June 1910 from Oslo with his ship Fram, his team and 130 dogs. After 6 months he arrived the Ross Ice Shelf which is the largest ice shelf of Antarctica. There on 14 January 1911 he made his base camp calling it Framheim.

With the team of 5 men, 4 sledges and 52 dogs he departed the base camp to reach the South Pole. On the way to the South Pole, they used heavy wool cloth and furred skins. They also used skis and dog sledges for transportation. His team with 16 surviving dogs arrived at the South Pole at 14 December 1911. They made a camp there calling it Polheim-the house of the Pole. He survived and arrived at 7 March in Australia with his ship and his team and 11 dogs. The expedition took in total 99 days. He died on 18 June 1928 on Svalbard.

Exploration is about exploring new places. It can also mean researching. There are many famous explorers like Marco Polo, Henry Hudson or Christopher Columbus. Nowadays we know a lot about our planet, but many years ago the planet was actually really new to us. We barely knew anything but our own country or continent. They used ships, horses and other transportation devices to go around Earth. Exploring doesn't just mean exploring our planet, it can also mean exploring the ocean or space.

Exploration is about exploring and discovering new places and things. One interesting thing about exploring new places it's for example how long a man can manage to survive in the new and unknown places. Being an explorer is also about exploring new worlds and new places. For example, we have Thor Heyerdahl who went to the Easter Island and other islands in the Pacific Ocean. No one has explored these islands before, and that’s what an explorer is. An explorer tries to be the first who explores and discovers specific place or thing. Also one explorer has to be patient and persistent because it takes time until he/she achieves the goal that one has. During an exploration man can have different challenges and dangers; but also can experience a lot of interesting and beautiful situations. When we explore we go through and meet a lot of new things as well as we learn a lot of unknown and interesting information. An explorer usually goes on voyages/trips of discovery because he/she has a specific goal of his/she’s exploration. We have different types of exploration: astronomical, scientific, archaeological, geographical, medical, literary.
