Discussion Highlights:
- We all brought up unique themes that are interesting to the section of the book
- Everyone showing up is a big part in the collaboration of our ideas
- Gino brought up the great follow up question/prediction and he thinks Hickock and Smith will be the murderer’s of the Clutter family
- We all are hoping to see what will happen next because the book is so good
- Everyone in our group is highly interested in the plot and are intrigued about the writer’s style

Discussion Highlights:
- We talked about how the trial brought out a lot of emotions to all of us as readers and it was a very focal point in the novel
- Gino made a great comment about how this man Perry’s testimony is kind of similar to like that of a modern day school shooter because they are all usually mentally insane or grew up with a very rough childhood
- We all liked how the narrative of the author Capote gives a deeper understanding of the imagery of how the trial looked
- After reading this part we all realized the affect the families murder had on the community and how they were very loved

- We all love the book and can’t wait to see how it ends
- It is very interesting to think that this whole family is the main stage of a creep gory murder story
- We wonder what will happen if the family is murdered, will the killer walk free?
- Our group is doing a great job conversing with each other and giving feedback on their takeaways from reading
- We all like how Capote used foreshadowing in the first couple of pages introducing the Family as this normal everyday family and then one day it all went wrong

Book clubs have been a good way to share ideas with classmates and get insight on other perspectives. It is very important to write when you read to gain a full understanding of what you read, this idea is shown in this quote.

Book clubs are crucial ways to come together as a group and really analyze what we all read and get an appropriate idea as to what we read specifically.

My experience throughout book clubs have been very interesting. Over time, book clubs have become more in depth, and you truly hear what your peer has to say about the book. Being able to hear his opinion, and respond to it allowed me to enjoy the book and the experience more.

I’ve loved my experience in book clubs as it allows for my peers and I to focus on actually reading since our written workload is lighter because we can divvy it up among us. It’s been great to be able to hear alternate perspectives on what I’m reading, as well.

I agree with Will’s journal entry because it resembles what I had to say about the foreshadowing of violence occurring later in the book. We both also, liked how the author introduced the family as well known in the community with very high status in wealth.
