Major Theme of Uncle Tom's Cabin

People who spread evil kill love, but people who spread love kill evil. In the book Uncle Tom's Cabin, love is spread like a virus with the power of a wildfire. For example, Little Eva symbolizes the kind of love needed to conquer evil that comes with slavery. Spoken with words that came from Little Eva's big heart came the words, "If my dying could stop all this misery, I would die for them". I chose this quote because it shows all of the love that Eva held and how she chose to put her love and sorrow towards others that suffered instead of herself. Therefore, Eva was a major symbol of the love stowed away in the hearts of the good people.

The Quakers, in the book Uncle Tom's Cabin, also have a great deal of love in their hearts, for the took in Eliza and her son while they were on their way to freedom. This relates to the theme of love because this act of risk and kindheartedness kept Eliza and her son alive. If it weren't for the Quakers, Eliza and her son would be slaves in an ungrateful environment. " Thee knows thee can stay here as long as thee pleases," said Rachel. This quote is from the moment Eliza showed up at the Quaker estate, and kind hearts imminently surrounded her. Therefore, this is and example of how kindhearted people wanted to help slaves be free.

Another text that supports the thematic statement includes, the happy ending. Though Tom has passed away, That doesn't stop people from remembering who he was and the impact he had on the lives of others. As a way to honor Tom, George Shelby free's all of his slaves and goes on to live his life. For that is the way Tom would have wanted it. "It was on his grave, my friends, that I resolved, before God, that I would never own another slave, while it was possible to free him: that nobody through me, should ever run the risk of being parted from home and friends, and dying on a lonely plantation as he died." This is a quote from the end of Uncle Tom's Cabin when George Shelby set his slaves free, for he did not want them to suffer like Tom did.

A Quiet Place v.s Uncle Tom's Cabin

I chose to relate Uncle Tom's Cabin to A Quiet Place, because I felt that the theme of what you would do for the people you love and just love and general related to both stories. In the movie A Quiet Place, the father sacrifices himself to save the lives of his two children, so they could live out their lives and somehow defeat the monsters that hate noise. In the book Uncle Tom's Cabin, Tom in a way dies for his fellow slaves, so they could have freedom. Although Tom's life was not spared, his strength way spiritually given to others to help them run towards freedom. Therefore, the theme of love relates to both stories.

Sugar v.s Uncle Tom's Cabin

Sugar and Uncle Tom's Cabin relate to each other because, both of the main characters make unlikely friendships in the slave world, Tom's being Eva, and 10 year-old Sugar and her new friend Billy. Eva, although she was very sick, becomes great friends with Eva and in a way she gives Tom strength to keep moving on without her. Whereas in the book Sugar, Billy and Sugar become friends because they had no one else in their lonely world. Therefore, the two books relate because they both have the same idea of friendships whether they are likely or not.

The song Stand By Me v.s Uncle Tom's Cabin

I chose the song Stand By Me because it really shows when you want people to be there for you. It relates to the book Uncle Tom's Cabin because in the song it says that no matter what just stand by me. In the book, The slaves stand together and are there for each other to help them get to freedom. Therefore, the song Stand By Me and the book Uncle Tom's Cabin have the same message of standing together and being there for the ones you love no matter what.

The message the song Lean on Me is trying to convey is when you are weak and you loose your faith I am there for you, so put all of your worries on me and I'll help you get through it. I the book Uncle Tom's Cabin, the Quaker Family was there for Eliza and her son when they needed help, and said share your troubles with me and I'll help you get through it. Therefore, the song Lean on Me, and the book Uncle Tom's Cabin relate because they posses the same message which states that when you are going through a rough time, lean on me and I'll help you get through it.
