Background info: 反方states that banning smoking in all public places will cause jobless in cigarettes industry, which is also bad to economy.

Point: Banning smoking will not cause jobless and affect the economy.

Full version: The counter groups argue that ... may cause jobless, this argument does not hold water. Undeniably, this is not a deep thought, we have to project to a wider society. The current situation is that Singapore's human resource is valuable and scarce.
By curbing the cigarettes industry, this can save the manpower and use them in other places. The people in cigarettes will not only be having jobs but also contribute in solving Singapore's challenge in society and economy. At the end of the day, banning smoking in public places will not affect.......

The Anti-smoking bill is generally banning of smoking tobacco in public places, such as hospitals and hotels to prevent health hazards that can arise due to accidental inhaling of others’ cigarettes . There is no denying that this policy will influence all Singaporeans and especially the smokers . As the government, we need to acknowledge the fact that smoking is detrimental to the health of our citizens . We have taken many measures to reduce our smoking population in recent decades, and the smoking ban will surely be an effective way because prohibiting smoking in public will make it more difficult for smokers to keep up with their habit. They will be forced to go to private spaces and be away from their non-smoking friends before they want to have a cigarette. There is a likelihood that numerous smokers will find looking for a place to smoke troublesome and hence smoke less frequently.{ For example, a study in England found that in the nine months after the smoking ban was introduced, there was a 5.5% fall in the number of smokers in the country, compared to the much lower fall of 1.6 % in the nine months before the ban} In addition, a smoking ban can also mitigate the effect of peer pressure on non-smokers because non-smokers will have less chance to be invited to smoke with their friends and be tempted to try smoking which is destructively addictive. Therefore , I personally feel that we should implement and promote the Anti-smoking bill as it can efficiently control and reduce our smoking population and make our citizens more healthy.
