The school was in alert bay, British Columbia and had room for 200 live-in students. The school was closed in 1974 and the Namgis First Nations were given control of the building in 1975.

  • Opened in 1894 and closed December 31, 1974

  • It hosted 200 live- in students

  • Workers thanked god for what they had accomplished (educating the kids)

  • After it’s closure in 1975, the ownership went to Namgis First Nations which used it for another school, offices and a restaurant

  • I’m the early 21st century, victims of abuse in the school received compensations on behalf of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
