My item is a clarinet.

The first idea I will teach has everything to do with levers. The way the keys work is because of the interconnectedness of the screws. The way the air moves through the instrument is changed through the different levers you put down. I can have them touch the keys and press down different keys to allow for better learning experience.

The second lesson I would teach is the qualities of sound or sound waves. How sound can be loud or soft, sharp or smooth, sharp or graceful. Then I could begin teaching them pitches of different notes and play a few songs they might know (like twinkle twinkle little star, or hot cross buns).

With my object i can help the kids tap into their creativity and think outside of the box. They are able to take a normal everyday object found at home and spin it into a multitude of different purposes. They could create a toy by using googly eyes etc. or possibly invent a fun game with what they’re given. By doing this is helps the kids develop their imagination and have pride in whatever they create. Furthermore there’s a magnet on the back of the clip which can be used to expose them to science and magnetism. They can use the knowledge to gather objects they think will attach to the magnet or repel the clip.
