I chose this topic because children love to learn about space. Not only is it important to learn about the very planet we live on, it can be fun to come up with science experiments to learn about how the Earth spins or about the Earth's surface. We will always live on Earth and it will always be a topic that should be discussed in grades K-6. Each grade can learn about Earth and every year the science experiment can be more complex.

Apollo 8 rocketed into space and saw a sight no one had ever seen before. The three men saw Earth rising above the Moon's horizon. This book teaches students all about Earth and what is it made from. Some say Earth should be called Planet Water as it is 70% bodies of water. Equator, rotations, mass, orbital speed, and moon distance are other topics covered in this book all about Earth. The author of this book previously worked for NASA and has filled the book with all the great information to learn about our planet.

Little Critter learns all about Earth Day and how special it is. Earth Day is when we celebrate our planet. In class, Little Critter watched a movie about the Earth getting hotter and freezing the North Pole. He must find out how to slow the melting and save energy. From this point on, the critter shows us ways we can save water and energy throughout the day. Next, he decided to come up with a plan to build a climate control machine to cool down the Earth and save the polar bears. The machine did not save the polar bears, but they learned how to save energy and were more aware of saving the Earth.
