Born in 1892 in Atlanta, Texas, Bessie was the tenth of thirteen children. Bessie was always up for adventures as she could always be found in her front yard or on the porch playing. However, it was not always fun and games because on Sundays she would go to church with her parents. She was a very clever as a child and was very committed to school as she understood the fact that it was a luxury as a black child to even get a chance to go to school. This made her very positive about her future, but she did not know back then that something would change everything. As a child she always wanted to “amount to something” because she saw her brothers go to war and return, survive race riots, but Bessie also wanted to achieve something.

As a result, Bessie saw some newsreels on aviation and her interest for pilots started to grow. Unfortunately, not one U.S flight school would accept her because of her skin colour and gender. But that did not stop her from achieving her goals, thus she saved enough money to travel to France where women could become a pilot. In 1921, Bessie achieved her goal and became the first black woman in the world to own a pilot’s license.

Ella started singing on the streets of Harlem in her very early days, but made her amateur singing debut at the age of 17 in the Amateur Nights at the famous Apollo Theatre. Contrary to what many believe, Ella was keen on dancing and performed in front of friends and family. Surely, she learned a lot from singing in church and playing the piano which she loved, but her love was at dance. Thus, when she was about to perform at the Apollo Theatre, her performance was actually a dance performance. However, when she saw another act dancing during their performance, she went for singing instead. As a result, she had chosen the right thing to do and won first prize.

The years that followed made Ella even more popular in the world of jazz. In addition to that, jazz was also making changes going from the big bands era in jazz to Bebop or bop which was an era of fast jazz music. During this time Ella learned her signature scat singing style, emulating horns and the band.

To this day, Ella Fitzgerald remains an important force in jazz music and music overall, inspiring many existing and upcoming artists.

However, we cannot forget Walt Disney’s most precious possession which is his first theme park Disneyland. Opened in 1955, Walt Disney created a world for many children and adults to forget about their worries for one day or maybe even more. To walk into a different world where everything is possible if you can dream it. This was certainly not that easy to come up with, but Walt Disney was determined to create his own little Disney world. Before Disneyland opened in California, Walt Disney created a fictional Disney studio for people to visit. However, after receiving many letters from people wanting to see more and experience more, he decided to come up with something new.

Thus, Disneyland was created in his mind and he only had to execute the idea and make it real. He bought a 160-acre site near Anaheim and the construction started shortly afterwards. Eventually, the park was revealed during a special televised press event on the ABC TV Network. Nowadays we have Disneyland, Disneyworld, Tokyo Disney and many more.

In the comic book world, we have several publishers who are very famous such as DC Comics and Marvel. Both make comic books about superhero’s saving the earth from its downfall by fighting mischievous enemies who threaten to wipe out every existence on earth. Very famous characters are Superman, Batman, The Joker, Iron Man, Captain American, and the list goes on.

This popularity also made sure that there was a possibility to get this on screen. As a result, DC Comics has created its own animated series and Marvel did the exact same thing. Furthermore, both studios are also very prominent in the film industry as both studios have shown to be very successful scoring box-office hit after box-office hit.

Comic books have shown that people still read books, but they need to have a strong story and illustrations to accompany the story.
