Eugenia Apostol was a Filipino publisher, in her early years she was an editor for news and several magazines. She used a variety of magazines as a foundation place to voice anti-government views. After the assassination of Marcos's rival Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino in August 1983 and a trial begun she set out to write her own weekly paper. She had previously seen another famous publisher become famous on these similar topics. The Inquirer outed Marcos and helped in the transition to democracy.

she took it upon herself to educate the people in the philipines. she claimed that "we need to educate our people better" which she is doing through the foundation of Worldwide people power. She had a goal of improving facilities and teaching in Public schools.

Ms. Apostol was greatly opposed to the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos, and posted many articles about how Marcos silenced the rest of the country.
In her own magazine, Mr and Mrs, she wrote of the injustice placed on those all over the Philippines under Marcos' rule.
She was brought in, along with 8 other female journalists, to be interrogated, or "intimidated" as one of the article writers said. When Marcos announced that he would have a fast election in the beginning of 1986, Apostol influenced many power-holders in the Philippine government to make sure Marcos didn't win again.

The reason that we chose GEFT for our service club to work with Ms. Apostol is because she founded the Foundation for Worldwide People Power, an organisation that strove to improve the facilities and general education in Philippine public schools.
GEFT works with external Indonesian students to tutor them in mathematics.
Both Ms. Apostol and GEFT have a common goal: improve education for others.
