Origins: Easter sprinkling (locsolkodás) in Hungary dates back to pre-Christian rites, where water symbolised purification, renewal
Past tradition: Traditionally, boys and young men visited girls and poured buckets of cold water over them—often straight from wells or streams💧
The ritual was communal and playful, sometimes quite rough, and girls would reward the sprinklers with painted eggs, food, or pálinka.
Present tradition: Today, sprinkling is mostly symbolic—boys sprinkle girls with perfume or cologne instead of water, often reciting short Easter poems. 🌸

Saunat

In Finland there are over 3.2million saunas. Here we have a saying: you are born in a sauna and you die in a sauna. This was very true during the 19th century. Every other household in Finland has their own sauna and each public swimming hall and spa has one. Even a Burger King in Helsinki has a sauna. Nudity is a common practice in Finnish sauna culture, but in public saunas swimming suits and towels are worn for comfort and hygiene.

Proper sauna etiquette is: not staring at anyone. A sauna is a place for relaxation, not judgement. If you chat with someone, don’t shout. It is important to be considerate of others. Ask before you throw water on the kiuas. Only warm water should be thrown on the sauna stove(kiuas)
