Woodspeen are now live!
We are pleased to have invested in our learner support platform CognAssist and would like to thank all staff for their hard work during the roll out process. There have been a few teething errors but CognAssist are working hard to help us over come these quickly. It was great to see that even on day one, we have five learners who have matched a further 21 learners who are in the process of completing the assessment and only 1 learner who has not matched . this is an amazing start. Please can you all continue to support your learners in completing the assessment and where a need is identified encourage the learners to complete the strategies and record their feedback on the system. CognAssist is to help learners develop strategies that they can use now and in their future lives.
If you have any questions about the use of the system please feel to give Claire a call, or you can contact CognAssist on 03301243779 or email support@cognassist.com.

Congratulations to Cameron Rowley who won our Learner of the Month award in October. Cameron was nominated due to his hard work and dedication to his charity work. His Tutor stated that he gives up evenings and weekends to support the ongoing ‘Man Van Project’, which involves travelling up and down the country in a 38ft American-style motorhome which has been converted into a mobile barbershop and health and wellbeing centre. His work involves providing free hair cuts and in return the participants take advice away about prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. This has been a joint venture with Piranha Hair studio, The Movember charity and The Rugby League Cares Foundation and we are very proud of Cameron who will receive £25 in vouchers, as well as his Learner of the month certificate. Well done Cameron! Keep up the great work!

This year we plan to collect for food banks in Bradford and Wakefield. Empty parcel boxes will be placed in reception in Huddersfield where staff and learners can add their donations. Suggested donations could include: canned/ dried food, long life milk, biscuits, sweets, toiletries, tooth brushes, tooth paste, deodorant, soap, nappies and baby and personal care products. Let’s make this year even more successful and help as many families across West Yorkshire, who are facing difficulties this Christmas.

November gives us the opportunity to promote the Movember campaign. The Movember Foundation is uniquely placed to address and support men’s health. On average men experience longer-term health problems than women and die on average six years earlier. Do your learners know that:
•	Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years
•	Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50 years.
•	Three quarter of people who commit suicide are men. This means that half a million men take their own life every year. That’s one every minute.
