The description of Crooks' living quarter's show that African American's aren't really valued in this time period. He is not allowed to stay with the other men which makes me think that that is why he is so quiet. He also lives with all the horse equipment which isn't the most ideal. This shows minorities of the 1930's because it shows that even though they have jobs they are not respected enough to get the same treatment as the other men who work there.

She said she couldn't make something out of herself where she was. Many women got married to have some sort of financial stability. The same goes for Curley's wife, but now she regrets that.

Audrey Recko

Lennie came into Crooks' room and told Crooks' that all the others went into town. "All the boy's gone into town, huh?" (Steinbeck 69). Not only did they not invite Crooks' to go into town, they didn't even let him know that they were leaving. This deals with the respect thing once again, all the other men didn't want to invite Crooks' out because they didn't want to be seen with an African American. This shows minorities in the 1930's because like crooks, many didn't have any power.
