Last Thing I Heard week 1(Pre production, Performing the Role of Liam)

Monday-
Today was our first day of Pre Production for 'Last Thing I Heard'. I am Playing the role of Liam Jones, a 21year old University Student. To Start the day, All of the cast sat down with our Director James and we did a script read through. After this we then discussed the initial thoughts and feelings my character feels during the film just so I can gain more of an understanding of my character. After a few initial read throughs of the script and character discussion, I then discussed costume Ideas with the costume department, just to get a sense of what my character of 'Liam' would look like.

Tuesday-
Today we started with a hot seating session so we could go more in depth with how our characters feel about the other characters. After that, I then completed a Character Bio so I could supply myself and my fellow cast members about a more in depth knowledge of Liam. Doing this helped me as I can look back to when needing to convey a certain attitude towards a character.

Wednesday-
Today we started blocking the scenes for the film. I managed to block my two scenes with Joel and Caitlin,. Me and Joel went away and action our scene and pointed out what directions we had so we could work that round the scene space. we rehearsed it and came off script ready to show Our Director. Once we had showed our director, He then gave us some notes on how we could improve the scene. I then Moved on to blocking my scene with Caitlin. Myself, Caitlin and James(Director) Really took time today with blocking this scene, due to the sensitive nature of the scene. We paid grate attention to the movement of the scene and I made sure I focused on instructions carefully in order for the scene to be represented to most accurately and to make sure Caitlin is at most comfort when we are performing this section.I also watched a clip from the film '8th Grade' , The scene was similar to the scene of Liam and Lyndsey where a sexual abuse takes place. Watching the scene helped me to understand the awkwardness needed in Liam but also how uncomfortable I need to make the character of Lyndsey feel.

Thursday-
Today I focused on Completing the Rehearsing and correcting part of my scenes With Joel. Some of the notes were the pacing in Parts of the scene and to make sure I emphasised certain words to make sure the line is delivered with the correct meaning and intention.I also worked on the ending line from my character. I tried delivering the line sat down and also whilst standing and instantly storming out of scene. I decided and with the director agreeing to storm out at the end as it adds to the intensity and anger of My character in the moment. After rehearsing Me and Joel were asked to create an improvised scene before the events of the film. Within the improvised Scene, I kept on the route of showing the Interest in the character of Lyndsey as this then adds to why my character does what he does.

Friday-
Today I ran all of my scenes in costume and with the full production crew, so they got a feel for what I would look like in costume in my given scenes. This was helpful for me because it was another opportunity for myself to strengthen and work on the scenes. I was also in discussion with the camera operator so I could inform them of my movement within the scenes so they have the understanding of what takes place within the scene and so they can capture what goes on accurately.

On Monday I organised all of my costume and any props I needed to bring myself so they were ready well in advance of my filming dates later in the week.

Tuesday
Today I looked over my lines for my upcoming scenes this week. I ran over my lines to make sure I knew them in advance to shooting so that I was being most efficient with our shooting time. I also looked so that I could go over the blocking in my head and make sure I had the right emotion and aim in each scene. for the outside scene, I looked over the urgency of running after Lyndsey.

Wednesday
Today was my first Day on set and we were filming close up shots of the outdoor of when my character of Liam runs after Lyndsey. It was an evening shoot and the weather conditions weren't great but I tried to bring the correct amount of energy and emotion to the scene. I referred back to what my character wanted during the scene which was to comfort Lyndsey and also try to gain affection from her. During today's shoot, I made sure I really focused on my stillness due to the shots being close-ups furthermore, I always made sure I was checking the camera operator to make sure I was in the correct space for the shot and I wasn't moving too much during performing. After the shoot, I helped with packing and moving equipment back inside and helping organise costume being packed away as well.

Thursday
Today's location for the shoot was at Salford Quays at Media City and the scene we were filming was the sexual assault of Lyndsey by my character of Liam. Because it was a night shoot I was always aware of my surroundings on set due to limited lighting when equipment lighting was not on. We did a very of takes and obviously different angles. I tried to show the 'kindness' but also creepiness of my character of Liam. An example of a way I tried to do this was keeping eye contact with Lyndsey to show his now rather obvious obsession with her. I also Made sure Caitlin was comfortable at all times during filming this scene due to the nature of the topic. After the assault scene, we then did the slap scene between my character and Kelsey's Character. I thought I took some time getting used to the slap at first because I was pre predicting what she was going to do, however, the more we did it I gained focused and panic within my character and hopefully, the reaction looks realistic and unplanned on camera. In addition During the shoot, I always ran over my lines when I wasn't needed on set so I was making use of my spare time and I helped with moving equipment and costume at the end of the evening.

During this week on Thursday, we filmed mine and Joel's scene in the kitchen location. I had all the correct costume with me prior to the shoot as I discussed with the costume team on our production. The filming hours were from 6pm-9pm and filming ran smoothly I felt as we managed to get everything completed. After the shoot, I helped pack some equipment up so we could clear the location quicker.

First of all earlier this week we had a reshoot for the driveway scene between my character of Liam and Lyndsey. Before this reshoot, I had gone over my lines as it had been a few weeks since I had last performed this scene. Looking at the script again also planted in my head the emotion and the intentions of my character for this scene. I thought the filming for the reshoot went well and we managed to complete the shots that we didn't get the last time of performing this scene.

On Thursday of post-production week, I took part in an ADR session to record some of my lines from to of my Scenes. The scenes I recorded some lines for during the session were the driveway scene with Lyndsey and the kitchen scene with Spencer. I thought my ADR session went well considering I had never done one before but I thought I brought some good energy to my recording.
