Reception Class

From Santa’s visit to the Sandfield disco last week, a few reindeer were left behind. On Monday, they caused quite a stir when the children found their phonics words splattered with reindeer poo, with secret codes hidden beneath! Quickly forgiven, the reindeer were treated to a feast as the children chopped fresh veggies, mixed hay, oats and herbs into a hearty meal.

Year 1 & 2

We could not be prouder of our children after their wonderful performance in The Inn‑Spectors! Every line was learnt with care, the singing was truly beautiful, and the solos were nothing short of incredible. Their hard work and joy shone through on stage, making the show a magical highlight of our Christmas season. Thank you to each child for bringing such energy and talent — you amazed us all!

Year 3 & 4

It has been a musical week in Year 3 and 4! Year 4 performed in their first strings concert and played beautifully. It is hard to believe that they only started learning in September - well done everyone.

This week, Year 3 has been actively filming their rhythm compositions, which they have been developing over the past half term. Initially, they used Stone Age character names to create their four-bar rhythms and then annotated them using the correct note durations. Finally, they recorded their performances using percussion instruments.

Staffing News

We say a fond farewell to Mrs Malik, our Year 2 part-time teacher, who will be leaving at the end of the autumn term to spend more time with her family.

We are deeply grateful for all that Mrs Malik has contributed to Sandfield during the past 16 months. She has been a supportive, flexible, and valued member of our school team.

At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Mrs Pepper to the Sandfield staff team. She will be joining our Year 2 team as a part-time teacher starting in January. Mrs Pepper brings a wealth of experience across the primary phase and fully embraces our school ethos of delivering an inclusive, high-quality education. We look forward to the energy and expertise she will bring to our community.

End of Term String Scheme Concert

We are really proud of the Year 4, 5 and 6 children who performed in our End of Term Strings Concert on Tuesday.

It was the first chance for our Year 4 class to take to the stage and showcase what they have learnt so far this term. They all felt really proud of themselves for playing in front of an audience! The strings 'orchestra' made up of Year 5 and 6 children were wonderful and showed the journey and progress that they have made since Year 4.

Well done also to our fabulous soloists, Felix and Hanee. A real inspiration!

Year 5 & 6

Year 5 and 6 have got the saws and glue guns out this week to make prototypes of Anderson Shelters in DT.

In previous lessons, they researched, drew diagrams to plan and communicated clearly in groups to decide what resources were needed.

We are very proud of the end results.

School Meals

Don't forget to order your child's school meal for next week!

The deadline for booking your child's Christmas lunch was Monday, please bring a packed lunch in for your child if a school Christmas meal has not been ordered.

REMINDERS

Absence Reporting

If your child is unwell or will be absent for an appointment for medical, dental treatment etc. please remember to use the Attendance Module in your MCAS App. You can also attach proof of appointments, hospital letters and so on there.

Please use the Message Module for any general messages to the school office, or Seesaw to contact your child's classteacher about anything specific to your child.

Request for Absence Under Exceptional Circumstances

The Absence Request Form must be completed if you would like to request any other type of leave for your child.

Parent Consent

Please can we ask everyone to have a look at all your consents and give or revoke consent to these and complete anything missing by Monday 5th January 2026.
