Hi dr Sheela, saya Muhammad Afkar. Saya ada 2 soalan
1. Berkenaan down cell, saya kurang faham part K tak boleh guna sebab melting point KCl > K metal n then nanti K akan dissolve. Bukan kah melting point NaCl > Na so kiranya tak sama ke macam mana dr? a bit confuse la saya dekat sini

2. Saya nak confirmkan about the solubility. Kiranya kita tengok size compatible kalau berbeza saiz (eg: KF) kiranya more soluble tapi lattice energy less -ve kan dr?

NUR SUHAILA

1. Kiranya dr, untuk halides ( MX) saya boleh conclude kalau X malar, as go down the group it become more -ve except for fluoride which is fluoride akan less -ve. and kalau M malar, as go down the group ( F- to I-) dia jadi less -ve.

2. maksudnya kalau SEMUA metal group IA + HCO3-, dia akan decompose and takde exception?

hehe thank you dr.

Hi Dr. Sheela. Saya Nur Syidah, nak tanya soalan tentang solubility. Saya masih keliru sama ada lattice energy perlu bertambah atau berkurang bila solubilty increase. Betul ke kalau saya cakap yang soluble of the compund decrease due to high lattice energy(+ve), so more lattice energy(+ve) is needed to separate the compound. Jadi Dr, pengiraan energy dia akan dapat lebih positive lah kan kalau dia less soluble?

Thank you, Dr.

Good day, Dr Sheela. I am Sok Jing and have questions about solubility.

1. Dr, is there any relationship between lattice energy and hydration energy? Why is that so for the lattice energy is high when the hydration energy is low and vice versa? If saying that when more energy is needed to seperate the compound into ion (+ive lattice energy), also means hard for ion to exist and cause the less ion to be dissolve causing the hydration enegy be lower (-ive) that resulting in less solubility is that correct?

2. Is the lattice energy is the only key in the enthalpy of solution to determine either the solution is endothermic or exothermic ? We can know the solution is exothermic when the lattice energy is low but without notify hydration enegy ?

Thank you dr.

Hi Dr, saya ada soalan,
1- Betul ke the higher the lattice energy, thermal energy also higher, so the solubility decreases ? Thermal energy tu sama dgn boiling point ke dr ?

2-Untuk solubility, the more negative the ions, the more stable the ions, more soluble the ions become in a solvent ? Form di sini maksudya formation of ions + solvent ye dr ?

3-Dr untuk lattice energy, kita imagine dia macam ni ke dr :
-As the lattice energy becomes more +ve, that means it contains more energy in it,
if we need more energy to break down the bond of the desired atom, it means the atom is very compatible in size and harder to break,
-the more +ve the lattice energy indicates that the solubility rate is very small and harder to dissolve.

-meanwhile if lattice energy is -ve, it means it has low energy, it does not have to try hard to break down the bond of the desired atom, this results in lattice energy to be more -ve.

4-saya kena study balik dr hehe. Thank you very much dr.
