Learning Focus of the Week

This week, our class is exploring the idea of working together using technology. According to our state standard (1.7.b Multiple Viewpoints), students should be able to use collaborative tools to share ideas, solve problems, and learn from different perspectives. We’ll be practicing this by working with classmates and even connecting with community members.

What We're Doing in Class

Collaborative Writing
Students are teaming up on Google Docs to write group stories. Each group is practicing how to respectfully add, edit, and comment on one another’s ideas.
Community Connection
We will be talking with a local community helper through a short video call. Students will prepare questions ahead of time in small groups, then reflect on what they learned after the call.
Problem-Solving Teams
Using an online whiteboard tool, students will brainstorm different ways to reduce waste in our cafeteria. Each group will share their solutions, and together we’ll vote on our top ideas.
