This can be so much fun, I counted my blocks as I built and I looked at the different colour I had used. What happens when they get too tall? Is your tower bigger or taller than mine?! When we build in the hub we use lots of modelling language, we talk about what we are doing, the colours we use and we count lots. The children love it when it falls over! Practice the names of the shapes, circle, triangle and square. You could put 2 or 3 different shapes next to each other, can they find the circle? The square? The triangle? T children can try to cut out the shapes and make a space picture. You could also look at colours too? Can they find the red circle? Yellow circle? The children love playdoh! You could sit together and roll the ball into a ball, poke holes, make snakes and squeeze it while you make creations! You might have some play doh already but if not you can make it with some really simple ingredients you might have at home! You can add a rolling pin, child safe scissors, children’s knife, cookie cutters to extend this activity!

 8 tbsp plain flour
2 tbsp table salt
60ml warm water
food colouring (doesn’t matter if you don’t have this) 
1 tbsp vegetable oil 

Mix the ingredients together and kneed!
The children have also really enjoyed being involved with the process of making the playdoh in the hub too!

You could even use chalk on the pavement or slabs outside, see how it changes if you use it on a wet surface, let the children explore. You could gather some sensory toys such as flashing lights, bottles with glitter and water in, some nice feeling material, rice in a bottle, anything that you know your child might find calming ( and yourself ) there are so many things you can make at home.
